NWR: FH Job!

NWR: FH Job!

I just spoke to FH and he is STILL at work! He is a city cop and has been on shift since 9:00 yesterday! Its been 29 hours and he said that they probably wont let him leave early because they are short in patrol. How do they expect him to work for a day and a half straight and be awake for a straight almost 48 hours?! that is so unsafe! sometimes i really hate his job!!

thanks for listening ..

geesh that is really unsafe - they say that being extremely tired and driving is almost worse than drunk driving. Tell him to shoot some redbulls before he drives back!

i know =( and plus driving around on patrol - it makes me nervous that if he runs into something he has to think on his toes and possibly use his gun .. that actually really scary, they dont care until something happens!

Wow thats horrible! One of my BM's is nypd and I can't believe how much overtime they give her. Yet they won't hire new cops lol.

My FH is also NYPD and he had a 24 hr work day last week so I know exactly what your feeling. I hate it

FH is a cop too. He already works nights, and sometimes he has to be at work ALL DAY as well if he arrests someone, or if he has court.

But, we just make the time we spend together really count, and think about the nice honeymoon we're going to have with all of his overtime.

I used to get upset over it, but there really is nothing FH can do about it. And I'm sure after working for 30 hours straight, the last thing he wants to do is come home to an upset fiance for something he was ordered to do.

I feel your pain! FH is NYPD as well and worked from 10pm Wednesday until 3:30pm yesterday. When I got home he was alseep on the couch, didn't even make it to the bed. I feel bad for him sometimes because their hours suck. I too hate when he is so overtired and then has to drive around and God forbid use his gun. Its scarey. I try and make life at home as easy as possible for him by making sure things are done so he doesn't have to do them and I try and be quiet so he can get sleep. Sometimes its better if he stays at the ptc and sleeps when he is done with O/T. I hate for him to drive home tired like that.

Actually it is funny this was posted today because FH just called me that he got stuck on a job and he doesn't know when he is going to get home (He was suppose to be off from work at 7:50)

Im not upset that i wont see him, im okay with that and i understand it comes with the job - im just concerned about his safety and the people around him for that matter. I dont know how these guys do it! they deserve so much more credit then they get!

One thing I have learned is that the NYPD can care less about their safety!

Yeah definitely. They bust their butts EVERY day and the media just loves to make them look like the bad guys.

I'm lucky my FH sleeps like a log. I've actually vacuumed the bedroom while he was sleeping in there and he didn't even stir.

Breaks my heart to wake him up for work though after he's worked 30 hours straight and comes home for a few hours to sleep. He is soooooo tired and I can barely wake him. But he HAS TO get up.

Those are the night I put his dinner in a tupperware so he can eat it on the way to work. Even if he can sleep another 30 mins instead of having dinner I try to let him do that.

If I don't make him something he'll go to Arby's or Burger King for a burger and fries. He freakin' loves fries.

So not only am I helping his waist line, but his wallet as well.

Soon his wallet will be your wallet so that's an incentive too!

My FH is the same way except he won't take dinner with him :( so if he doesn't eat at home then he'll stop on the way of just forgo dinner and wait til meal. That I make him almost every night because some nights they never get a chance to stop for anything or even get meal depending on the jobs that come in. I couldn't do it.
