HELP!!!!! I always tried to get to the gym/work out atleast 4 times a week (even if I get my 2.25 mile walk in I think that counts!). 3 times is ok, 4 was a good week and 5 is awesome.
Well FH moved in this summer after we got engaged and now I can't just come home from gym and make a quick dinner anymore for just me cause he is there and I make dinner for both of us. If i get home from work by 530 go to the gym and get home at 645 by the time i cook dinner we won't eat until 8, so I have completely fallen off schedule with working out.
i told him this morning that we have to come up with a plan cause I can't get fat before the wedding and I really want to tone up and get back to being serious....
so after a long story... how do you guys fit it into your day and around all your other things on your 'to do' list?!

Great question. I've been thinking about posting this too but haven't gotten around to it.

Re: NWR: finding time to work out?
this is difficult for us too, we live together and by the time I get home it's already 530. It's so hard to fit the gym into our schedule and then having to worry about making dinner afterwards. It defeats the whole purpose of going to the gym.
Still trying to figure it out while paying my dues every month and not being able to go.

if we have time to fit LIW in 2890240 hours a day, theres no excuse why we cant go to the gym. haha
try making reallly big dunners on sunday and freeze them. or the days u dont go to the gym just ake big dinenrs and have him eat leftovers. u can always just amke a quick salad to go with the leftovers... that takes minutes.

Re: NWR: finding time to work out?
since it sounds like your FH would be home if you went to the gym right after work, do you think he would be able to start dinner so you can eat as soon as you get home??
since my FH is the cook that's how it worked for us when i worked in Brooklyn. i got out of work at 5 & went straight to the gym. was home by 6:30 & dinner was on the table.
however, since i work in the city & i don't get home until 5:30 now. FH starts dinner when i get home & then after we eat my mom & i walk around the golf course by our house. then when i get home i clean up the kitchen, shower, watch some tv & then off to bed.
i spend Friday night, Saturday & Sunday mornings, doing all the other chores. laundry, cleaning, shopping, etc.

We live together too, and FH knows that I must go to gym in order to keep my weight down where I want it. He even paid for half of my membership for me, lol.
But I get off of work at 5 (usually) and go straight to the gym from work. Generally I take a class from 5:30 to 6:15 then I'm home by around 6:30. Since FH works in the city, he usually doesn't get home til at least 7:30 anyway. It works out perfect for us. And we're used to eating dinner at 8, 9, sometimes even 10pm. Last night we ate dinner at almost 10:00 because he stayed late at work and I wanted to wait for him.
One quote that love and I found through WW and use for my members:
'You'll never find the time for anything. If you want the time, you must make it.'
Try to go on both Saturday and Sunday. That leave 2 days out of the work week. I would pick Monday and on Sundays try to make enough dinner to have left overs on Monday so you don't have to cook.
And then do another day at the gym (let's say Thursday) and do a quick meal that day. Like turkerburgers or veggieburgers.

FH and I both get home at the same time (we actually work together). Then we both change and go to different gyms (on an ideal day!). He is completely clueless in the kitchen though!!! LOL!
I am thinking I can trade off days doing weight and cardio and then I can just be at the gym for 40 minutes each day? I told him he needs to buy me a treadmill or ellipitcal so it will be easier!!! LOL, not quite in the budget right now!

Very true... that is a good idea. wknds at the gym are hard in the summer, but the rest of the year ... NO EXCUSES!!!

Re: NWR: finding time to work out?
Could you try working out in the morning? I was training for a 1/2 marathon earlier this year, but would often work late and be way too tired to go to the gym. So, I started getting up at 5:30am to train. Not only did I get my work out in, but it left my evenings free!

It's the only thing that works for us. I got so used to eating dinner late when I was in grad school. There were days (I'm sure you know) that I worked all day then went to class for 4 hours and didn't get home til after 10. That's when I had to eat dinner.
Now that FH and I live together, I really don't like to have dinner without him if I can avoid it. So I usually wait around for him. If I didn't, we'd only eat together on the weekends. He doesn't even leave his office until 6pm, which guarantees that the earliest he'd get home is 7:30. The good thing about eating late for me is that it stops me from picking at junk for the rest of the night.

ITA ! and you will feel so energized the rest of the day!
What if you work out during lunch? I mean, people do it...especially in the city b/c there's a NYSC on practically every corner.
Doing cardio will be tough b/c you'll want to shower and for us girls that involves reapplying makup, drying our hair, lotions, etc. But if you work in the city and join a gym in the area you can squeeze some weight training in during lunch. I personally don't really sweat during weight training so not showering wouldn't be a problem.

I eat dinner late as well. No choice in the matter. And FH and I live together. I work a late shift 10am - 6pm. I go straight to karate and usually have class 7-9pm. So, I don't get home from everything until 9:30pm. Sometimes FH will have dinner done for me. Other times I'm on my own. But, I always have dinner late.

Re: NWR: finding time to work out?
I wake up at 4:30am just about every work day during the week and go to the gym before work. It's the only way I know for sure I will fit it in since I never know what time I'll get out of work at night.

Re: NWR: finding time to work out?
Some suggestions:
- Wake up early and go to the gym. - Make large dinners on the weekend with the intention to eat the leftovers during the week. - Eat dinner later if you do need to cook at night. - Go to the gym on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays...less pressure of 'oh, I need to get up for work in the morning' - Go on a walk during your lunch break. It's better than nothing! - Figure out fun ways to get in exercise on the weekends: roller rinks, ice skating, jogging, frisbee, basketball, etc. It won't even feel like you're working out!
HTH!
