NWR: First Birthday Gift

I need some fresh ideas...what is a good gift for a little boy for his first birthday???

a fun toy and money (or savings bond) and maybe a book!

edited to add a more specific example - i found this musical chair that i bought for DH's niece as her 1st bday gift...and for a friend for her son's 1st bday. both kids LOVED it!! whne you sit down, it plays a song. when you took the arm rest it plays another song. i couldnt believe how much the kids LOVED the gifts (DH's niece played with it for month and months...and as she got older and could sit on her own, it was even more fun). so something musical & interactive is always a good gift!

I always suggest toys that they can push b/c they are learning to walk at this stage. Like a shopping cart or lawn mower. My niece and nephew loooove pushing the shopping carts around. They have ones that make noise when you put something inside too!
