NWR - Food/Cooking Help

SO for the next four weeks i'm barely going to have time to sleep, nevermind COOK! But, eating out every day/night just isnt in the budget! So i was hoping you guys could give me some ideas of what to buy/cook that would be yummy....healthy...and fast!!!
This week i'm working 8pm-8am, so i basically come home, shower, sleep and then have a few hours to myself to eat and play around on LIW lol. Any simple 'dinner' ideas i could make? I also should be nice and leave something in the fridge for my FH.
Next week i work 8am-8pm, so its a little more of a normal schedule. But i dont want to come home and cook for an hour just to go to bed on a full stomach and wake up at 630 with bad reflux. Any ideas for those nights?
Then everything repeats, going to the night shift and then back to days.

Please help. I wanna go tothe supermarket sometime this week or weekend and i have NO IDEA what to even buy!

Thanks all!

Baked ziti or lasagna - you get a lot of servings from it.
Baked mac and cheese, and have a salad on the side.
Big pot of soup or chili...or both! Yum.

If you take the time to make any of these things, you'll have a good amount of leftovers for you and the FH.

i know it's not the best solution, but DH and I often buy those frozen meals in a bag (the Bertolli ones are really good) ... they're like $7 per bag at target.

They take 10 minutes to prepare (and one pan) and are about 600 calories per serving (2 servings per bag).

only thing is that they're semi-small so we usually make a steamed veggie bag along with it.

When I worked nights, I'd basically eat breakfast twice! I'd eat breakfast when I got up in the evening, then had a normal lunch overnight at work, then had a cereal bar on the way home. FH basically cooks for me now, especially if I worked that day (7a-7p). Otherwise I eat frozen meals like Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones. I told FH that I would cook for him on my days off but he didn't want me to! He likes to cook and he finds cooking relaxing after work. Crazy but I get to benefit! So get some frozen meals and get your FH to start to cook! He might like it!

Problem is that i love to cook!! My FH will cook if i ask him to (and leave a recipe), but i like to do it too. And even if he cooks, i need to pick out what hell make and buy the supplies lol

our two favorites are the Chicken Farfalle and the Chicken Parm ones. But all the ones we've tried are good.

My quick-dinner go-tos:

Burgers on the George Forman Grill
Chicken/shrimp/steak stir fry
Grilled chicken sandwiches
Sausage and rice
Grilled cheese

my quick dinner go to meal is :drumroll: breakfast! Not too filling, usually do an omelet , with toast and if I want a protein throw deli turkey in the omelet of kielbasa on the side.

Do you have a crock pot? If so you could set up meals to cook before you go to sleep and they will be ready when you wake up.

Another really easy dinner is fajitas with those precooked/seasoned chicken strips, chop up some tomatoes/olives/lettuce/shredded cheese, a mexican rice mix and a can of refried beans-superrrr easy

there's a recipe on the side of the lipton garlic/herb mix that i love

big pot of soup (i just made italian wedding soup today)

tacos

ivarone sells amazing chicken burgers you can cook in a skillet

a round chicken sausage with peppers and onions

i am also guilty of the meal-in-a-bag/steamed-veggie-bag combo... but i use the pf changs ones. they are like 300-450 calories per half-bag serving and are REALLY yummy.

Crock pots are amazing! all you have to do is throw together a side salad or vegetable to go with the meal.

Thanks everyone!
I made chicken tonight....and i usually eat this type (cooked in salsa)...but today it just smelt...that like raw chicken smell, and it got me sick (i really cant stand chicken).
So....like back in college, it was Ramen noodles for me.
I left the chicken for the FH.....and i have a PB&J sandwich for tonight at work.

Boooo i hate chicken. Hopefully Taco's tomorrow.

I get that way with chicken too. I try to explain it to FH but sometimes it tastes too...CHICKENY lol. It's the only way to describe it but makes me gag. Same thing for pork, beef, and fish too. I've never been a picky eater but proteins have been making me nauseous lately.

FH is a huge meat eater so it's challenging to cook for both of us.

BUY FROZEN BROWN RICE. Greatest thing ever since brown rice takes forever to cook.

They really come in handy for quick healthy meals. Chop up veggies like onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc (meat if you want) and stirfry it in a pan with garlic. put the brown rice in, stir it, sprinkle some soy sauce, salt, pepper, scramble an egg with it and you have some fried rice that can be reheated and it's prety healthy!
