...Sorry to post on here about something NWR, but I figured this board gets the most views...
If you have a dog, when did you switch it from puppy food to regular food? My boxer is 14 months old, and he has begun refusing to eat his puppy food. It says on the bag that it's for dogs 0-18 months, but I tried feeding him regular food and he liked it. Is it harmful if I put him on regular food now? I know he's still growing, so I don't want to do the wrong thing...
Also, what kind of food does everyone use and why?

Hrm, what does the regular food say? Does it have an age guideline? I'm not sure, but I figured I'd answer your second question. My ex-boyfriend's mom used to train dogs and he insisted I feed my dog Eukanuba or Nutro (which I think you can only get a pet food store), so I did. My dog was always very healthy and had a fantastic coat. Iams also used to be good but Purina or some other big company bought them and now they're not so good as they used to be though they're probably still better than Dog Chow or any of the other brands you can get in any grocery store.

we switched a little before he turned one
he eats Nutro and loves it!

I switched when he was about 1, but I started mixing the 2 kinds together at first and then slowly filtered out the 'puppy' food.
It's easier that way on their digestive system

I switched him at about 10 or 11 months.

my dog is about 1.5years old, we did a transition from puppy to adult food around 1 year, as recommended by our vet. we mixed the puppy and adult food for about a week, then went to adult food only and he did fine with that. good luck! my vet said they have all sorts of crazy recommondations on the food bags and you can't always follow them, if we had we would have totally over fed our dog!

Our dog has been on adult food since about 8 mos - we were told he was an adult when he was really only a puppy when we adopted him. Poor baby. I agree that you should mix 1/2 the puppy with 1/2 the adult chow for the first few times you switch it. Changing it 100% at once could cause an upset tummy.

We switched at a year and even with a new puppy my older dog still won't eat the puppy food. You should try it now, see if he likes it....
