NWR - for those who have loved ones in the military

I recall that a few of you have FH's and/or other friend and relatives in the armed forces .. are any of them in Iraq or leaving for active duty soon? How long is their tour of duty for?

I just found out my closest uncle is leaving for Iraq in a few weeks .. he's definitely going to be there for 3 months, maybe more . I am worried and so upset to hear he is going .. jsut want him home safe!

Now we're not even sure he'll even be back in time for the wedding!!! That is secondary to his safety, but I'm just so bummed..

Just wanted to give everyone lots of to everyone who has loved ones in the military .. they are doing an amazing job of representing our country during this tough time

A friend of mine is in the Army. I am not sure where he has been or will be stationed. When we talk all I want to know is that he is ok.

He called me this week. he's home for 2 weeks and then will be shipped out. I told him I dont want to know. I just want him to be safe.

Another friend of mine is a Marine and he has been in Iraq for over a year. He works on the tanks.

I'm the same way .. my uncle told me he'll try to call often, and he'll have email access .. but I really rather not know the details or the specifics .. from what I gather, he's going to be right in the middle of things, and I rather not think too deeply into that... He's in the Air Force

As you said, we just want them to be safe!!!

Thanks for the hugs!

Both my FH and my FBIL are currently in Iraq. FH has been there since Thanksgiving, FBIL since last April.

It's not an easy road to choose becoming a military wife, but the pros far outweigh the cons. He is one in a million and I can't wait to see him again!

Aww.. FH is lucky to have you!!

I don't know how you do it .. it cannot be easy but you seem like a very strong person!

I hope they are home safe & sound very soon!!

My 'little' brother is active duty Army National Guard. Thankfully he is stationed in Albany but there were a few weeks during the holidays where we thought his unit was going to be deployed overseas. He's on active duty for one year already and as far as he knows will be until next January.

to you guys too!

right back at you...

Most USAF deployments are going about 5-6 months.
Do you know what he does? Like, for example my husband goes about 90-120 days and comes back for a a bit and then does 90 days again.

My brother just returned from Iraq after 9 months over there with the Marines.
He came home and broke his face playing football (jerk) so he can't be sent back, but he's been talking about going back in a few months again.
He's been there twice already - i don't know how much more of it my parents can handle!!
