NWR FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!****update*****

so FFIL was over last night and left his insulin here so this morning FH called me from work (he's working in CT today) and tells me FFIL will be there in a few to get the insulin. He gets here and didnt come in which I thought ws weird but I figured whatever I'll just run it downstairs to him so I give him the stuff and he turns to leave with out saying good bye then he starts mumbling like jibberish and I said what?? he turned around and looked at me funny and said his arm was numb the his lips got all distorted so I grabbed his arm and sat him down on the stairs and told him not to move I ran upstairs got my phone to call 911 and when I came back downstairs he was fine......I really think he had a mini stroke or something but he insisted he was fine and told me this happens sometimes when he takes his high blood pressure pills, he insited on driving home. I called FH and told him what happened and he is trying to get in touch with his step mother but I am so freaked out I am shaking and cant stop crying. Please say a prayer for him

Does anyone know what this could have been?? I am sooooo worried

im so sorry!! Could it be because he didn't take his insulin today?? I would call FFIL and tell him you are really concerned.. I'm sorry hunny!

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry!!! Maybe he's really dependent on his insulin and he was late taking his shot so he's just having issues with that. Update us on what's happens.

he said it wasnt the insulin because thats the first thing I said I opened up the bag to give him a shot and he kept saying it wasnt the insulin

Thanks girls I really think it was a mini stroke Fh just talked to him he is home and feels fine FH is going to call him later and have a long talk with him because he scared the living SH!T out of me thanks again to the 2 of you who reponded

OMG! Thats so scary! I think he should go get checked out! This happened to my dad a few years back and he had a mini stroke. He was fine thank god! I hope he is ok Kristy!

Sounds like a transient ischemic attack (TIA). My bf had one about a year and a half ago and it was the same exact thing. He started slurring words then his left arm went numb. We went to the ER and 40 min later he was totally fine. It was so scary for me though, so I know exactly how you feel. tell your FFIL that he should take baby aspirin every day, if he isn't already doing it. It prevents them in the future. Im sorry that happened

That definitely sounded like insulin shock or a diabetic stroke (I think that's what it's called). How old is he?

he is 59 I think this is what happened a few people told me that a diabetic stroke mimics a real stroke. FH really layed into him about going to the dr and having it checked out and he promised so hopefully all will be ok I was just so F-in scared.

NEVER give anyone insulin unless you know what their sugar is. High & Low sugars can present in the same way.
I am a Physician assistant whos FH is also an insulin taking diabetic.
Its quite possible your FFIL had a stroke, he really needs to get checked out.
Diabetics are at increased risk for Heart attacks and strokes.
