NWR - getting to Randall's Island for a concert??

Hi Ladies, does anyone know what is the best way to travel to Randall's Isl. from LI?

Girls were thinking mass transit, from a friend's apt. on E.72 St. They have to transfer at 125th st., and do the same coming home at night. Is this OK for a group of young women traveling alone?

Any input appreciated...

from long island take the LIRR to Jamaica and go to platform C. Take it to Woodside. When you get outside you will be on Roosevelt and 61st. There you will catch the X-81 ( X = express ) direct to randalls island. It is a $5 round trip ticket on the bus. Enjoy

well that sounds easy enough! Can they get an express bus from Manhattan or only from Woodside? They were planning to meet at the friend's apt. on E.72 in Manhattan, but maybe LIRR to Woodside would be simpler!

Anyone know about express buses from Manhattan?

Concerts Only (following bus routes ONLY run during concerts):
From Manhattan: Take the 4, 5 or 6 train or Metro-North to 125th St., then transfer upstairs to the X80 Express Bus (NW corner of 125th St. and Lexington Ave.), which runs nonstop to Randall's Island. A $5 round-trip fare is collected en route to the Island. If you transfer from the subway or bus with your Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard, only $3 is deducted. Paper Bus Transfers and dollar bills are not accepted. For more information, log onto www.mta.info.

Thanks so much Ivori, the bus from Woodside sounds the easiest from LI!
