NWR: Giant Cupcake Pan

NWR: Giant Cupcake Pan

So I am going to attempt to make this tonight for our FG's birthday celebration tomorrow night.

This is going to be my first attempt, but I wonder if anyone has used this pan set before and if you have any pointers for me. I feel like this is going to come out looking like a hot mess!

I haven't used it, but I registered for one, and read somewhere that you should bake the top and bottom at different times because they will bake at different rates.

i have the one from william sonoma and it takes almost two boxes of mix for both the top and the bottom. My nephew LOVES when I make him this cake!!

edit: make sure you level the cake out so when you put the frostin in the middle it lays evenly

I have!!!! Its awesome!!!! I'll post some pics for you of the ones I made already!

Tip: When its done baking and you take it out of the pan you are going to have to trim the excess. Use a flat sharp knife and try to cut it as flat as posible so that it sits flat on top of the bottom piece

Just saw that you posted this yesterday! Sorry how did it go??

Re: NWR: Giant Cupcake Pan

michelle, ur cakes came out soooo nice!

ummm so i have a pan like this, was allll excited to try it, thought it was going to be the cutest cake ever, but mine came out like CRAP!!!!
I filled the top & bottom level bc the pan doesn't come with any instructions (W t F is that about!?) and when I took it out of the oven, one side was overflowing and the other was so short..so I googled reviews of my pan and some ppl gave explicit instructions..here's one and Ill put the link below.

A few pointers...
1. I didn't like that everyone else was approximating their numbers, so here are mine exactly:
- 325 degrees, the entire bake time
- When spraying the container, I made the mistake of spraying the whole thing BEFORE the top went in. Remember to only spray the bottom, then after baking it (see next bullet) spray the TOP.
- 12 minutes just the bottom piece
- I then added the top. 67 minutes = enough time to get the soft inside and not too hard outside.
2. I used 2 cake boxes, and took note of which is denser (I had devil's food and funfetti, so I used the devil's food for the base). When finished, I had enough for 12 cupcakes in addition to the large cupcake.
3. I filled the batter up to the last portion of the spiral for the top, and about 1 inch in for the bottom

link to review

good luck, let us know how it goes!

yeah well I didn't trim the excess (didn't even think to) and now you can see the cream on the inside of the cupcake LOL

It still was pretty easy to make. Just had to remember all the little tricks after to get it to loko perfect. I iced it and put some little round circle candys sprinkled around with a swirl of colored icing on top. I'll take a pic tonight and post

That cake pan is sooooo cute! Me and my MOH have done some pretty cool cakes, like a 3D pirate ship, and I would love to do this cake! Where did you get the pan?

Wow...those look awesome!!!
I'm gonna buy it and try this out after the semester is over!!!

Did you use the silicon or the non-stick pan cup-cake? I'm trying to figure out which is less likely to stick...
