NWR: Girls with Curly/Wavy Hair

Can you tell me what hair products you use?

My hair used to be straight when I was younger and then I got a perm . Since then my hair has been curly. Well, over the past few years my curly hair has changed to straight at the rop and wavy about 3/4 the way down.

I need a good product. I have tried EVERYTHING! Gels, Mouses, Hairspray, Creams...and different types of brands....cheap and expensive!

I want something that leave my hair bouncy, not frizzy and not crunchy.

HELP!!!

I get the Keratin Treatment to make my hair not frizzy......doesnt really take the curl out just makes it nicer.

I use stuff specifically made for Curly Hair, called Ouidad. Not sure if it would help you or not, but I love the Climate Control.

Check out their website. They have a section called Curl 101, designed to help girls get better curls. I follow their instructions and it comes out so good. Its not just the products but they way they suggest styling your hair.

The website would help.... Ouidad

I get my hair cut at Ouidad. Their products are the best. I use the Climate Control gel but really the best thing to do is at least go for one cut and style there, they teach you how to curl your hair properly.

My mom was using the products and she still thought her hair couldn't curl right, too flat in the back. She went there once and now her hair always looks great.

I get it cut there too, but I know people who just use the products and they help. A cut there is expensive but I agree, if you can, do it once. They really are amazing. If you can't get the products and use the website tutorials, it will still make a difference.

I use Aussie Mousse in the little fatter bottle, it's for curls. Its the only mouse that doesnt leave my hair crunchy. Make sure if you try it you get the one in the shorter fatter bottle, the other mousses they make leave your hair rock solid.

My hair dresser has recommended the keratin treatment for frizzy curly hair, it calms the frizz. I might try it after the wedding when I go for my newlywed chop.

When I have the money, I use Curlisto products. I used to get my hair cut at their salon (Christo's) before this silly wedding got in the way (lol). But their products are pricey but I can't find anything that works as well.

Thanks girls!

I just looked at the Ouidad website...are their haircuts really $250?!?!?!

I don't think that is something I will ever be able to do! But I may look at their products.

a haircut there is between $125 and $135. They usually only recommend you come 2x's a year. They don't try to push their products on you or their haircuts but I have recommended so many people there and they all have seen such a difference in their hair.

Depends on who you go to, what tier. If you do it with Ouidad herself (that is the woman who invented the cut and products) then its $250. I did that my first time but really Tier 3 is fine, which is $125. Honestly, I used to have to get my hair cut 6 times a year, now I do it 3, this year because of the wedding 4 times a year. So it really evens out, I probably spend almost the same amount on hair cuts.

Ouidad believes that curly hair should not be cut the same as straight hair, because it is different, so they cut it at an angle and its really not cutting, its called slicing. As they 'slice' your hair you can watch it bounce up into curls, its really incredible.

The products are unbelievable.

Thanks! I looked online at the products and they are reasonably priced. I think I will go that route first and then maybe try a haircut.

I just use regular LA Looks Extra hold gel lol. I slum it.

Actually, I have a bizarre system. My hair is naturally wavy/curly, and I shower right before bed so my hair is still a little damp when I wake up, which helps. I re-wet it a bit with my hands, then run the gel through it, just a tiny bit though. Then I use the TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock amplifying spray and mist all over. Then I use the TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock amplifying creme, and use that to scrunch it up a bit. Then I smooth my hair down in to a low ponytail and kinda let it dry for a few hours, then take it out at work and my hair is super wavy, and soft curls. It doesn't dry your hair into the crunchy scrunchy gelled look, it's completely natural, and it looks awesome if I do say so myself.

I like the John Freda (sp) frizz-ease stuff.

that's the only product specifically geared towars my hair that i use.

Otherwise i use Panteen (god i can't spell today). I dry my hair like crazy and then use an iron. If i want a wave THEN i use a curling iron. (only do this once or twice a week. otherwise my hair would fall out lol)

I've been using SAMY mousse for about 2 years and I love it. I was constantly changing products until I found this one. It's in a yellow bottle and it's for curly hair. It's not very expensive, I usually get it at Harmon and I use a coupon..haha!! It works really well...and I too, have tried EVERYTHING!! If you let your hair air dry, it will be a little crunchy, but if you scrunch it, it comes out right away. If you blow dry it (I do, with a diffuser), it isn't crunchy. Good Luck!!

PS, what are you doing with your hair for your wedding?

How much does the Chi run? Need to replace the good ol' Conair after the wedding--it's not heating up so well lately.
