NWR: Glee - don't judge me

OK, die hard glee fans, I don't get it. Can someone explain to me what it is about this show that has everyone off the charts excited? I watched the season premier and could hardly stand it. Is it funny? I mean, it beat 30 Rock for best comedy, right? That is the only reason I gave it a chance because I LOVE 30 Rock . . . I want to be in on the joke. Someone explain, please.

If you're going to be judged for not liking it I probably shouldn't mention I've never even heard of it??

A lot of people were probably involved with music in high school. It's a feel good show that features a lot of people singing. You have to watch from the beginning to love these characters and sympathize with them. Try watching the pilot!

It's so strange because FH was in men's chorus throughout high school and we were both involved with the productions, arts, etc, and we were both just not into it. Maybe we'll watch the pilot - thanks for the suggestion. I want to like it, but I just couldn't tell if it was funny and just like going over my head

imho, this is a show for those who love music (specially oldish music since they do a lot of revivals/mixes).

that's why i like it!

aside from the music, i guess it is still interesting because the storyline talks about a lot of issues nowadays (gay/infidelity/teen pregnancy/etc).

I wasn't into it at first, but it's just so cute and brings me back to my high school music memories! I think some of it is over the top, but I'm invested now!!!

Sorry I'm a gleehead. I love it because of the music medleys. And I love the dry humor. As stated above try watching it from the pilot episode you get invested in the characters.
