Re: NWR: got traffic ticket
The $$ depends on what county you were in when you got it. I got one a year ago and it was $100 with a $50 surcharge, no points. I got mine in Nassau. I think there are no points the first time... I got no points on my license.

Fine is a little over $100, and no points.
I got 2 when the law first came out, fine might have changed a bit.

Re: NWR: got traffic ticket
so, should i plead guilty and just pay the fine? it's not like i can fight it in court.

I would just pay it,, even if you fight it,,, most likely you will still wind up paying. Sorry that you are having a bad day!

Re: NWR: got traffic ticket
i think you can plead not guilty and give a reason and they usually lessen the fine a little. although i don't know what reason you would give...maybe u can make something up about why you picked it up

you at least have a case...if you really want to fight it, i would mail your ticket back in pleading not guilty. they'll set a court date for you and when you show up in front of the judge, you can explain your side of the story. just bring all the info with you about changing your address and the dmv sending it to the wrong address. they'll most likely dismiss it. i however, don't really have a case. unless i was calling the police, fire department, or doctor's office for an emergency, they're not going to care. oh well, i just have to suck it up.
