NWR: Graduation Present for my Father...

Hey Girls,

What do you think about this idea for my Dad's graduation present.

My Dad has everything.. but my mom is taking him to Puerto Rico as his present and I thought instead of them using their credit cards, I would collect money from my brother and sister plus some of my own and put it on one of those Amex gift cards that work like a credit card??? Do you think $500 from your three children is a nice gift? We would all love to do more, but we are all a bit strapped for cash right now.. I just worry it won't seem enough...

Not to sound corny but how can you possibly re-pay a man who has done so much for us and we are so proud of him.. I mean it took him 5 years part-time and working 40 hours a week to finish his degree... I'm just so proud of him and I wish we could do much more..

Sorry it's long..but any feedback would be great..

Thanks for listening
Hugs~ Jen

Edit to add: They are only going to PR for four nights, the $500 should more than cover their food right??

I think that is a perfect gift. I don't know if it will cover all the food but definately a generous portion. What a kind and thoughtful daughter you are!

WAY TO GO DAD! That was a huge accomplishment- tell him congrats

My father was in the same situation, so I definitely know the sacrifice these men have gone through. I think the gift card would be perfect!!!

BTW - Congratulations to your father!!

WOW! That's awesome for your Dad. What a wonderful gift.

My Dad started college at age 55... 37 years after he graduate from high school. He worked his @$$ off. Unfortunately, half way through he had a stroke but he got into the honor society. I cried like a baby at his induction. All of the students were 20 years old with their parents as their guests and my dad (student) was 57 and his guest (me) was 27

I hope your parents party it up in PR.

I think its a wonderful gift - and I would include in the card exactly what you wrote in your post, about how proud you are of him and how difficult it is to express how much he means to you and your family. Your thoughts were really beautifully expressed.
