Lately, when I go to bed I can't stand to hear DH breathing. Well, he breathes kind of loud and it drives me crazy. A normal person wouldn't mind it so much, but I get anxiety from it and I need to sleep in the guest room, otherwise I can't fall asleep and my heart races. And then I get all upset because I can't sleep in bed with DH. I kind of had a breakdown last night and lay in bed crying. I don't know what's going on with me. I used to have no problem falling asleep. Now I feel like I have to go to bed before DH so I can sleep with him, but he already goes to bed early as it is.
Has anyone had any form of anxiety like this before? I don't know how to stop it.

Try wearing earplugs to bed - they have really comfortable ones made of expanding foam so you don't feel them in your ear when you sleep. Maybe that will help?

Put something in the rooms that generates 'white noise' like a fan. You can have it on even when its cold, just point it at the wall.

Oh my god, I used to want to smother my fiance with a pillow when we first moved in together. If he sleeps on his back or on his side facing me - it shakes the room, but if he sleeps on his side facing away from me then he only just breathes loudly rather than snoring.
In the fall and winter, I use two air purifiers - one on his night stand next to his side of the bed, and one on mine. If they're on 'high' then I don't hear him. In the summer, I use a window unit air conditioner (I shut the central air off at night - it doesn't make enough noise) because it's quite loud.

Unfortunately I can relate! I sleep with ear plugs everynight and it doesn't work. I end up on the couch EVERY SINGLE NIGHT
I absolutely hate that I am not in bed with DH, but it would be worse if I just layed there and let it stew.
I am thinking that the next step is a sleep number bed. Maybe if I don't 'feel' him, I won't wake up. Or maybe it is just wishful thinking - SIGH..............

I feel your pain! FH snores and if I don't fall asleep first I'll end up tossing and turning. Unfortunately we live in a studio apartment - so I can't get away from the noise. I've tried earplus...but I can't stand the way they feel. Luckily I've been very tired lately - so the snoring only bothers me for a little while. I just poke him and elbow him to make him stop - doesn't last long, but gives me a chance to try and fall asleep.

maybe you're stressed over something. go to your doctor and see if they can prescribe a sleep aid for you.

I'm the snorer, and drive my FH nuts with it. Lately I've started using BreathRite strips, and they work like a charm. He says that he has to check if I'm actually breathing cause I don't make any noise at all.
Have you DH try them, you can get them at any drugstore and they're inexpensive.

My FH only started being an annoying sleeper when we moved in together. It came out of nowhere! He breathes loudly too and occasionally snores. We sleep with the fan on 365 days a year, and it also helps that I go to bed earlier than him. He stays up very late watching sports, sports, and more sports.

That is my exact problem. It's like his nose becomes a wind tunnel when he exhales. I can't take it!!!!!!
I'm gonna try ear plugs.
Thanks for the suggestions ladies.

We almost always have a box fan on in our room. It works like a charm and drowns out our neighbors downstairs.

I wouldn't be concered that you have 'anxiety' over the breathing, your heart is probably just racing because you are getting worked up a bit. You could be having anxiety about something else and falling asleep is triggering it.
