NWR having a breakdown

Ok..so i quit my job at a daycare because this other opportunity came up. A friend of FIL's is a supervisor for a group that works with disabled adults. She was telling me what i would be doing..which was supposed to be job coaching. She said it would be a monday through friday job with hours of 7-3 or 8-4...during the day. and id be making around 13-14 an hour. Well i got my fingerprints done and filled out my paperwork and it took them over 2 weeks to call me back. The guy calls me to say that they are offering me the position and i say great. Then he tells me it's $10 an hour and i'd be working sunday through thursday 3-11pm!!!!!!! Im liek wait repeat everything you said..so again he says 10 an hour and 3-11pm s-thursday. I seriously am so upset b/c this is NOT what was discussed. So basically i will be making like no money ( i could be making that an hour in a daycare and at least that would be the feild in which i went to college for) and i won't ever see fh b/c he works during the day. Sundays are his softball day too and i LOVE going to his games..i don't want to give that up! I am supposed to have my 3 day training start friday and i agreed to it...but i dont want the position after hearing that. What do i do? Go to the training and then tell them that i realized that i don't want to do that...or call them up tomorrow and say I'm sorry I don't want the position anymore? Im seriously crying b/c im so upset b/c i quit my other job for this and now i'm freaking out. FH is going to kill me if i dont start working soon. What the hell do i do!?!?!?!?!?!?

honestly if I were you I would look for a different job.the hours suck and maybe if you were making good money you can deal with it, but not for `10.00 an hour thats crazy

Can you go back and work at the day care.

First you should tell them that is not what you applied for and that there was a misunderstanding. Stick with it for now then look for another job and then bounce. It's not worth it.

That's what I'm thinking... you made a mistake. Explain that to your old boss.

I'm so sorry.

I'm not sure where you live, but I work in Nassau for a company that does pretty much the same thing... they always have lots of positions open that are M-F either like 7:30 - 2:30 or 8:30 - 3:30. Let me know if you want more info. (It's only $10.75 an hour though, not much better)

I hope everything works out!

Re: NWR having a breakdown

I don't want to go back to my old job because i didn't like the owners and they didn't offer benefits which at this point is pretty necessary. I'm going to start calling places tomorrow and scheduling interviews for teaching positions. I'm just mad b/c i built my hopes up that i would have a 'real job' and then they pull this crap. I'm sorry, even if they 'fix' the problem, i feel like they're going to give me an attitude about it b/c i complained..ya know? So....anyone know of any good daycares or preschools in suffolk that are hiring???

Re: NWR having a breakdown

u should look into UPK programs, im pretty sure they pay more than daycares

Re: NWR having a breakdown

i looked into the upk..but they require you to have a bachelors degree...which is so stupid b/c it's pre-k and thats what my degree allows me to teach but i think b/c it's still with the school district
