NWR - headache cures - Long Island Weddings

My cure-all is excedrin migraine, a huge diet coke for the caffeine, and then stand in the shower for as long as it takes and let the hot water beat down on my head. Maybe even take the shower head down, change the setting to a stronger force, and put it directly where it hurts. After twenty minutes, this usually does it for me.

I saw on Pinterest the other day where you sit with your feet in warm/hot water, and put a frozen bag of veggies in the back of your neck/head. Something about the heat pulling blood away from your head and the coldness numbing or something.

Good luck!! I've been there, it's the worst!

My grandmother used to put potato slices in her forehead. Supposedly the potatoes absorbed the headache away. Hope it helps!

For a migraine...sleep! And carbs....lots and lots of carbs. I'll also chew gum, for some reason the chewing motion makes it feel better. I get lots of migraines, it's actually my biggest wedding day fear and I've tried every medication with no relief.
If you think it's just congestion and not a migraine, get some saline nasal spray, it should help clear you up.

Feel better!

Re: NWR - headache cures

I get migraines BIG TIME…to the point that I'm actually on medication for the severity and I have to see a neurologist. I only take my prescribed medication when I feel that it's out of control, but when I feel a headache coming on (this sounds gross) but I chew two Excedrin and swallow it with something caffeinated, like Pepsi. If my headache isn't to the point of no return, which it usually isn't, it goes away within an hour if I lay down and relax. Hope this helps, I definitely feel your pain. Feel better!

Re: NWR - headache cures

I just recently began getting migraines, my neuorologst told me it was hormone related and comes with that time of the month. Oh the joys of getting older lol. He did prescribe a med for me when it comes on but said that the best thing to do is drink a lot of water stay hydrated and lay down in a dark quiet place. I also take migrelief a vitamin which has magnesium in it and since I've been taking it for the past two months the migraines have been a lot more bearable.

interesting ... can you get that vitamin at a regular health store, like GNC? i'd be interested in trying that. i do feel like as i've gotten into my late 20s, they have become more frequent and that the come on much more easily (ie, it used to take a ton of stress to give me a headache, now even a small bit can do it!)

I'm prone to migraines and take medication for them. I would suggest something with caffeine (like soda like the other girls said), a VERY dark room, and one of those heat-up herb packs that they sell in the middle of the mall. FH HATES the way they smell, but they do the trick!
