he and michelle williams split...he was dating someone else famous recently, but i cant remember who. I am so sad, i LOVED him :(

No to say he was dating one of them but the apartment he was found dead in was one of the Olson twin's apartments...or at least owned by them.

It's so sad I loved him in '10 Things I hate About You' the dimples! This is the 2nd young actor in the past week that has passed away.

my brother left me a message and i thought he was kidding.
i'm in total shock.

Iam know Iam so saddened by the news! What an inspiring young actor. I am so upset. He was playing the joker in the new Batman movie. I wonder how it will end without him? I feel bad for his 2 year old daughter. God bless him and his family.

they are done filming batman. unless it needs reshoots that movie is done....he was currently shooting some other movie 'the imaginarium of dr parnassus'.


this is totally sad.

i had a crush on him ever since 'ten things i hate about you'

I was under the impression that Batman was not done filming b/c Christian Bale got hurt and while he was healing Heath Ledger took time to film another movie....

not to be argumentative in such a crappy situation but Batman is listed as being in Post-Production, as of November 11th, so i'm 99% sure they are done with principal photography

All my friends used to say Garrett looked like him....creeeepyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

I just saw on the news. I cant believe that.. Its soo sad

I also hope I didn't come across as thinking this was sad b/c of Batman... I just think the whole thing is a mess. I feel bad for his daughter and the rest of his family. I was just confused about the movie time lines.

...but yeah, this totally sux. i heard somewhere he had trouble sleeping b/c of his role as the joker (this particular article quoted him saying he was so disturbed he started taking sleeping pills)....which would explain the ambien i heard they found...

...but, it's all bullsh!t speculation, either way the dude is dead and that's f-ing sad.

was found dead at his Manhattan residence Tuesday, a police spokesman confirms. He was 28.

Ledger was found in the bedroom of his Soho apartment around 3:30 p.m. by his housekeeper and a masseuse who had arrived for an appointment with the actor, according to the Associated Press and New York Times.

Ledger, who was in bed, did not respond when they shook him, and the housekeeper called 911. He was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m.

Authorities said they did not suspect foul play but that pills were found near the body.

'There were some drugs found around the body – prescription type drugs,' a police spokesman tells PEOPLE. It's still unclear whether the death was accidental.

A medical examiner removed Ledger's body from the apartment just before 6:30 p.m. ET.

Despite initial reports that Ledger was subletting the apartment from Mary-Kate Olsen, reps for the actress denied that Olsen ever owned or lived in the apartment.

This is just sad. His poor little daughter..........
