Other than craigs list, apartments.com or rent.com does anyone have any suggestions on where to look for a 1 bedroom apartment either in nassau or nassau / suffolk border for around 1000 a month?

Oddly enough, we found our first one on Newsday.com and our 2nd one in the Pennysaver.

In my experience word of mouth works best... Ask people you know if they know of anyone who's renting... that way they will keep you in mind if they hear of anything...

I haven't tried personally, but I hear that the LI Catholic has great apartment listings.

pennysaver, town crier, i know someone who found a great place for really cheap in the town crier
