Okay so we are going to need to clean the new house from top to bottom. What the heck do I use to clean? I need cleaning products for bathrooms, kitchen, wood floors, walls, etc. Thanks! I have a lot to learn.

the Swifer (dry) is my Favorite thing for dusting! it really traps the dust in so your not making it fly all over the room.
Mr. Clean magic earaser- i jsut bought this a few days ago, and im Obsessed with it... there were sooo many scuffs on my kitchen floor, and now theyre all gone.... it seriously is Amazing- it makes things look brand new..

Kimberly - for the first big clean - it sometimes is a worthwhile expense to bring in a prof crew -- they are better equipped to get things like pet stains out of carpet, polish wood floors, scrub tub etc. When we figured out the number of hours it would require for us as well as all the supplies (bec. remember that this is not your usual windex and stuff, this is heavier duty stuff) it just made sense to spring the money for a prof crew -- and they were able to handle what would have been a week of work for us in half day.

That is a good idea Deb. How much was it and how many people came? Do you still have the contact info? Maybe they come out to Long Island.

Merry Maids runs holiday promotions -- and is worth looking into. I will see if I still have coupon for you. What we did was hire actual professional team from FI's office building to come and do one big SWEEP of everything. They just functioned on a level beyond us - scrubbed bathrooms to the core - grout and tile, oven industrial scrub, cleaned all the walls - light fixtures like that. One tip I learned -- it is ghoing to sound nuts but I have now seen industrial cleaning crews SWEAR by it. Easy off (though be careful of fumes and WEAR GLOVES) takes scum off of almost anything -- use in bathrooms and sink and all over to make stuff glisten. If you watch the prof they use that stuff by the case.
