NWR: HELP!!! I MESSED UP! (sorry long!)

NWR: HELP!!! I MESSED UP! (sorry long!)

Computer buffs help me!!

Quick background:

Over the summer my parents were invited to a bbq by a friend of my mothers (a woman who had been on her bowling league for years). At the party this woman's fiancee got drunk and BIT my mother on the neck..yes bit. Came up behind her, grabbed her by the head and bit her. Broke the skin and everything. The woman tried to defend her fiancee saying he was going to rehab and is having a nervous breakdown etc...my mother didn't want to hear it. She said they could continue their friendship but my mother would never be in the same location as the fiance. The woman disagreed and the friendship ended.

So now 6 months later this woman writes my mom an email basically saying that my mom was never a true friend because she never called to see how they were doing or how the fiance was after he committed himself. She says my mother should be ashamed of herself. Whatever.

My mother forwarded me this email because she was upset about it and wanted me to tell her this woman was wrong. So, I wrote back to the email saying that this woman has some nerve to turn around and say these things about my mother. Called the guy an abusive manipulative ******* and said with friends like those you don't need enemies.

Cut to 3 hours later, I am emptying out my outlook mailboxes and I see an unfamiliar email address in 'sent items'

I emailed the above response to this woman, my mothers former friend!!!!!!!!! OH SH*T!!! I don't know what to do!!

I tried recalling it but that only works if you've sent it to an outlook email address.

What do I do now? Do I write another email saying that the first was intended for my mom?

HELP!!!

yes, my mom forwarded the message from AOL and I had to click on a little envelope to open it. When I responded I didn't realize that I was responding to the original email sent to my mom.

So, I sent the negative response to the other woman.

I'm freaking out and my mother isn't answering the phone!!!!

I am in NO way a computer whiz, but I would tell your mom what happened so she's prepared in case she gets some backlash.

Then I would say, GOOD. She deserves everything you said and I would go on with your life not worrying about it. Your mom doesn't need that friend and you basically just took care of your mom's problem for her! Done. Case Closed. Don't worry about getting the e-mail BACK... be proud you sent it because everything you said in it was 100% the TRUTH!

truthfully, if your mom is not friends with her, I would just let your mom know what exactly happened....

Did that woman ever hear of 'what goes around comes around?' I think you are fine, what is the woman going to send her fiancee over to bite you next? Nah!! lol...

It's probably better off that you sent the letter to that woman, because now she knows what everyone thinks about her and that she should look into the mirror when pointing fingers at other people.

You are fine...i'd be nervous if I were your mother, but then i'd think about it, and be glad that the woman finally got hers!!

do you intend on being friends with this woman? are you close with her? will you invite her to your wedding?

i'm assuming that the answer to these questions are NO. so....who cares?! forget it ! no sense in trying to email and act all apologetic. she just knows how you feel about it. IMHO i say oh well, no sense in crying over spilt milk!

is your mom home? Maybe call a neighbor and ask them to run over to the house and tell her to call you?

I am so sorry to be the one to tell you this but it is gone. You can not get it back. Even if you recall a message from outlook the person has the option of reading the original email and not the recall first effectively rejecting the recall. When you send a message to another carrier it is gone.

TELL Your mom what you did. Send her the email that you sent so she knows exactly what was said incase she needs to defend you to this woman.

BE Proud that you told this woman an unfiltered version of your thoughts! To be honest if my mom sent me that I would have responded to the woman.

I'm sorry but your story is amusing. I say it's a good move.

Don't write her back. Just let your mom know what happened so she can be prepared if some negative backlash.

Who BITES people??? That's just nuts.

I wouldn't worry, your mom is not friends with her anymore. Let your mom know about what happened, and then that will be it.
This is not someone you want in your or your mom's life anyway.

I agree...you can't change what happened and it's TRUE.
