I am dog sitting my parent's pekingnese dog. On Monday she was having trouble peeing and she peed a teeny bit and it was pinkish. I got nervous and called the vet. I came home later that night and she was totally fine. Peed 3 times no problem. This entire week she has been fine until this morning. She was having a hard time peeing and she peed a little bit of blood. I am totally freaking out. I made an appointment with her vet on Long Island but they can't see me until tomorrow. I live in NYC and my brother can only pick me up tonight to take me to the vet. She doesn't seem in pain, i rub her belly she is ok, her tail is up. Could it be a urinary tract infection? I'm nervous!

it definitely sounds like that. As long as she isn't mopey or listless I wouldn't be too worried... and if it is that the best thing she can do is drink water, though I know it's hard to get pets to do that.

Thank you. I got her to drink a little this morning. She was wagging her tail and she wasn't listless.... I am torn on whether I should take her to a new vet in the city today or just wait until tomorrow and see her vet who knows her history.

I tosunds like that or a bacterial infection .. My dog used to have difficulty peeing and they said she could possibly have a UTI>> or yeast infection,.. good luck tomorrow.Give her a teaspoon of lowfat plain yogurt.. I give this to my dogs every morning. it promotes good bacteria. so it could help!

I agree, have the dog drink lots of water. The best way to get her to drink water is get her tired. Run around with her, get her to be playful, so that she can get thirsty.

Yeah it does sound like a UTI. Try to get her to drink some cranberry juice.

That is a good idea about the yogurt!
NapaValleyGirl - I would wait until tomorrow. She doesn't seem to be in a ton of pain, so she should be ok to wait. Definitely try to get her to drink as much as possible - my vet told me once to put a bullion cube in the water so she would drink more (you can put it in hot water to dissolve it and then let it cool, and add it to her water - don't add it to too much water or she won't taste it) or you cna use some kind of chicken seasoning you may have ... good luck!!!
