I'm giving my students (8th graders) a biography project. It's TIME MAGAZINE: Man of the Year. They have to choose a Man of the Year (for any year) and write different parts of the magazine (for ex. a letter to the editor explaining why he/she should be man of the year).
I want to give them a list of possible suggestions. Any ideas on soome interesting people I can suggest? They're in 8th grade and their attention is severely limited. It can be men or women from any time period!
THANKS!

that was the first thing I thought of! I want them to try and research people they dont know much about...although I am including him on the list.

Re: NWR: Help with a school project please!
Do you want it to be people that are popular or people that they might not know at all? FH is a history teacher and he just did a similar project but with unkown women of the women's movement--I could get his list if you'd like!
If you're looking for more well known:
JFK RFK MLK (sense a pattern, ha!) Rosa Parks Reagan Hillary Clinton
