NWR: Holtsville Ecology Site may be closing

Hi ladies, I hate to bombard you about this since it may not apply to some of you and mostly effects Town of Brookhaven residents. The Holtsville Ecology Site in Holstville may be closing at the end of the year; if you are not familiar with the FREE park it consists of a town pool, excercise track, park/recreation area, greenhouses, compost area and an animal preserve with animals ranging from farm animals to exotics like bears and bald eagles that can never return to the wild. One of Mark Lesko's last act as Brookhaven Town Supervisor was to submit a budget on 9/13/12 that has the entire facility shutting down, which consists of all of the above. All part time staff members will lose their jobs and full time employees may either lose their jobs or be forced to take pay cuts and moved to a different department in the Town of Brookhaven. I urge you to spread the word and encourage all Town of Brookhaven residents to send letters to or call the office of their elected District Official. I hate to be annoying but it will only take 30 seconds out of your day to pass the word on to those you know who may utilize this facility. Seriously why would they close it? Its such a great place! I go there with my bestie and her kids during the summer alot. Thats such BS that they wanna close it. After all, its our tax dollars that pay for it anyway!
