Since I got laid off from my job and I have a lot of free time between going on interviews and stuff....until I do find a job I was wondering if anyone knows how you'd go about volunteering to work in a homeless shelter for the holidays or even somewhere else. I'd love to help somehow. THANKS!

Re: NWR: Homeless Shelters
I volunteer once a week at an animal shelter and i love it! i highly recommend volunteering. if you live in nyc, there's an organization called nycares and they offer a ton of volunteer opportunities. i'm sure there's a similar organization on LI if that's where you live. you could probably just google 'volunteer Long Island' and you'll get tons of hits.
