NWR: House hunting

NWR: House hunting

Today FH and I are going to more open houses. I've already had the experience with my parents. I went with them to over 100 houses to find the one we live in now for over 3 years. FH doesn't have the experience.

Anyways, he keeps telling me we are just 'looking'. I hope he changes his mind when we find the right one for us! He did the same thing when we were looking at engagement rings! Clearly, he finally changed his mind when he bought my ring!

I really only posted to get some good house finding vibes from you girls. Also, to see if anyone else is going through this process right now, as well!

Thanks for listening! I love how I can just post how I'm feeling and you girls are there for me with love and support!

Goodluck w/ the open houses! When we first started looking, we just went on our own to open houses and that's when it felt more like we were just 'looking.' Once we got a realtor, and told him exactly what we wanted, and he started finding it, we both went from looking to putting down an offer It can be a bit of an annoying process, but the rewards of it are so amazing

Thanks!

Yeah, I've been trying to get FH to do that but he still isn't ready, I guess you can say! I think in his mind he keeps seeing all the $$ he is losing out of the bank! I just hope the house I really want to see today doesn't turn out to be a disappointment!

Thanks! That's how we started. I went looking with my mom a couple of times. Then all of a sudden FH suggested we go look. I really wanted to start looking now because I know it can take up to 3 months under a contract to close on a house. So, I want us to have plenty of time to find a house right for us.

We found two. Of course he likes one and I like the other! I saw the wheels turning in his head trying to figure out how we can financially do it if we choose his pick. I however think we need to keep looking! So, it was a good day house hunting!

Re: NWR: House hunting

I opted to get the house before the marriage, we lived with his parents for 1 yr, needed out. I also have a teenager, so we really needed our own place.
Anyways,
Make sure you buy something you both want. My fiance complains all the time how small the house is.
I keep telling him it's out first house, so we can always sell. When we saw this house, I thought it would be perfect, we are not youngings, ( I'm 36 and he is 42) and my son is going to college next year. So we really did not need a big house. He felt since I liked the house a lot, he just said okay.
On a good note, since the house is small we don't spend much on oil

Glad you found things you like in houses! That was the hardest part, finding a house that we BOTH liked. Write down the things you like in both houses and the things you don't. Then when you find your Realtor, he'll have a great understanding what you're looking for.

My FH and I did this, and it only took us 2 days to find the house we're in now.
