NWR: How do you tell someone their cologne stinks?

This person in my office wears so much cologne its like they took a bath in it. Honestly, it is so bad I want to throw up every time I smell it. Everyone complains about it- but nobody wants to say anything. . .

It is so overpowering. . I can't describe how truly miserable it makes me every time I smell it. I think I might be allergic to it.

Um, start sneezing and tell the person you are totally allergic...you'll swell into hives, therefore increasing your wedding stress.

Just say ' Come on already, that stinks!'

If everyone in the office is complaining then the supervisor/manager or whoever this person reports to should do something.

You MUST work in my office! The woman in front of me wears this awful strong perfume that is so bad I can actually TASTE it in my MOUTH!!! YUCK! I suffer from cronic migraines and even her perfume would set them off.

We complained to HR, Dept. Mgr. and even the VP of the Co... Not one of them wanted to do anything about it...even though it effected most peoples health!

TELL HER. Take her aside where no one else can hear you and tell her that although her perfume is beautiful, it's very strong and you have an allergy to it, or that you get a headache from it. Don't tell her that it gives 'everyone' a problem, only mention yourself. That way, she won't feel that people are talking about her behind her back or uncomfortable about the situation.

I've done this with a girl (not a friend) I went to grad school with, as well as a girl at my last job. If you don't embarrass them, and if you make it seem like they are doing YOU a favor by cutting down on the perfume, then they're more likely to comply.

I agree. I suffer from migraines and had this problem numerous times. I have gone to my boss about it and nothing would get done. When I would take them to the side and explain how much I LOVE their perfume, but I am highly allergic to it, that seemed to work better (would not hurt to sniffle and sneeze a bit while you are talking to her). I don't understand WHY people do this, really. Take a bath, it's easier!

I say Sneeze a lot and complain about a headache and say 'what is that smell!' it is giving me a headache!!! this lady in macys sprayed me with perfume i sneezed the rest of the day and got such a headache!!!
