nwr: How many of you send a thank you card after an interview?
At my current job, no one that we have interviewed with has sent us a thank-you card .. (ok, maybe like 2 people in the 3 years that I have been there)
Do you guys send them?

Sorry to crash -
I do a lot of the hiring at my job and although it is rare to get a thank you, you are supposed to do it.
A friend of mine actually told me that she didn't get a job once because she didn't send one and the other person did.

The few that I have gone to, I have always sent a letter of thanks, thanking them for taking the time to meet with me. That's what my mom always told me to do!!! hehehe

On my last job hunt, I sent a thank you email. Most people have their emails on their business cards.

I just found out about the thank you card thing on my last semester of college ( i had graduated in 2001 then took years off then went back and graduated 2007). SO PLENTY of jobs didn't get them and even when I reapply for a position i noticed I wouldn't even get a call back. Thought they just didn;t like me but found out it was most likely a thank you card thing.
Always send them unless you really think you never would want that job.

I send an e-mail followed by a hard copy letter.
Once it did make a difference--I got an offer for a marketing internship due to the fact that I sent a thank you letter and the other candidates didn't.
But honestly, when I've been on the interviewing side, my colleagues and I have already made up our minds on job candidates on the basis of the interview, not on the thank you letter. We also usually meet to discuss candidates right after the interviews, so the candidate doesn't have time even to send an e-mail message. Sending the thank you won't salvage a subpar interview. That said, I won't dare skip it if I'm the one interviewing.

You should always send one. It's basic business etiquette. I wouldn't hire someone who didn't send one--it would make me wonder what else they didn't know or might get wrong if we hired him/her.

it's proper business etiquette 2 send a thanks card or letter within 48 hours of the interview...I usually start one b4 I even leave for the interview so it is in the mail the next day
