FH and I are going to a 1st birthday party at the New Hyde Park Inn this weekend. What would be appropriate to give as a gift? It's at a really nice place BUT it's a 1st birthday. TIA!

why do parents of 1 year old have parties at nice places and expect presents to be given accordingly?
give the kid a set of blocks and some bathtub crayons.

I agree BUT they are not having it there to get a big gift. I just don't know what to give.

Depends on their relationship to you... I would give a savings bond... maybe $50 or going up in $50 increments depending on whose kid it is.

For a 1st bday party I would get the kid toys! But if its a nice, fancy-ish place.... A savings bond would be nice I guess.

They are close friends, I spent about $70 on the gift.
