NWR: How often do you feed your dog?

NWR: How often do you feed your dog?

So I just got a new dog and and the thing is making doo doo every 4-6 hours after it eats. If I feed it in the morning by the time I get home it already makes doo doo in its cage.

I'm thinking about starting to feed him only at night and by the time I get home and feed him and ready for bed...he should be ready to make his daily 'load.' What do you ladies think? How often do you feed your dog and how did you go about potty training them?

is it a puppy? puppies need to do out like 20-30 mins after they eat. Once they're older they can hold it longer.

I feed mine once a day at night but they're older dogs. Puppies need to eat more often since they're babies.

can you have someone come over and take the puppy out during the day? that's what i did.

my dog isnt a puppy anymore so I only feed her once a day... the bag of food should tell you how much to feed based on the size of the dog

Its actually 3 years old. And it tends to go to the bathroom 4-6 hours after it eats. I think im going to start feeding it one time a day. After your dog eats, how soon do you usually take them outside?

i feed my dog 2-3 times a day and she's 7. after she eats, i take her out shortly after. but she's also trained to never go in the house, so she'll always hold it till someone can walk her

if it's 3 years old, it is okay to feed him once a day. hmm but the dog shouldn't be pooping in his crate since most dogs don't like to sit in it's mess. Do you know the dog's history? had it been crate trained before?

My puppy is 9 months now and he used to go in his cage when he was very young but he will now hold it. We have left him in the crate for up to 6 hrs but if it's more than that I feel bad and leave him out with the wee wee pad.

My parents feed their dog at night since they work long hours during the day and it works for them... I guess you have to experiment and get in a rhythm

I feed my dogs twice a day. I usually take them out right after I feed them and they're good until I or FH gets home. They are 2 and 3 years old.

He's fed at about 7pm each night. He tells me when he has to go out.

I feed my dog twice a day. She goes out 2 times a day. If we take her on a 2 hour walk she'll poo like 2 - 3 times.

2x a day. In the morning they get snacks, and at night, they're dinner. probably should only be feeding them once though but they look so hungry

2x a day. 7am and 5:30pm. He’s a puppy though, 5 months old. I take him out about 30 minutes after and he usually goes. If he is going inhios crate perhaps the crate is too big. Our trainer told us the crate should only be big enough for him to turn around and lay down. If its bigger they will poop on one side and lay on the other. If its too big, then you should try a divider.
Is going home at lunch to let him out an option for you? I was doing that at first with the pup until he was holding his bladder better

I have 2 dogs, 12 and 10, and I feed them twice a day

My dog is 6, and I feed him 2x's a day. He does a load 3 x's a day, but we take him out 4x's because he always has to pee. I used to feed him once a day and he still did the same amount.

Per our vet, we feed our puppy 3 meals a day.
1/4 cup each time. If he doesn't eat, then we just double up the next feeding.....

Our pup is 3 and we feed once in the morning and once when we get home. She usually poops right after eating.

I've honestly never heard of a dog pooping that far after eating. Maybe trying walking him/her after eating? It probably needs to go somewhere in between that time and that's why it's pooping in the crate.

I have 2 babies. 2yo and 4yo. they both get fed twice daily, the amount that the beneful bag says. they go on a walk every am with daddy where they both poop (before they eat) and then go out to run around in our backyard. and my little boy (the 4yo) usually poops again.

I feed my puppy 2x a day.. are you crate training???.. if so your pup shouldnt be pooping in its crate because they dont like to poop or pee where they sleep.. If your pup is using the bathroom in its crate that means the crate is too big for him .

I have a 4 month old pup and he gets fed twice a day, but I'm home with him most of the day and he is trained to go on the wee wee pads because he is a small dog and wasn't allowed to go outside until it was warm out.

I have a 1 and a half year old dog and a 2 year old dog and I feed them each one cup of food in the morning. They usually go about 20 minutes after they eat.
