NWR: I AM SO FRIGGIN PISSED RIGHT NOW...I WOULD NEVER SHOP AT ANOTHER WALDBAUMS AGAIN!!!

So ...

I went to Waldbaums on my lunch break to buy some ww food because i am going on a diet for a few weeks until the wedding....

I get on the check outline where i had the sweetest cashier lady who gave me a coupon for my laughing cow cheese and bread...

Anyways....It is time for me to pay for my food when i take out my debit/visa mcu card. MCU is very notorious for horrible cards because the magnetic strip never works, but since i recently got a new card I didn't think i would run into any problems.....BUT I DID.

I tried to do debit it didn't work...so I told the cashier to do credit; but she isn't allowed do it ...the managers are the only ones who do that. So this manager comes up to us....

manager: he started to say..YOU CAN COME IN HERE...then stops...SAYS.... THIS IS THE LAST TIME YOU CAN COME AND USE YOUR CARD LIKE THIS....

I stand there completely dumbfounded...

manager: YOU NEED TO CALL YOUR BANK AND GET A NEW BANK CARD

I said this is a new card...

manager: WELL SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOUR WALLET.

mind you the lady behind me was looking at me like i was wrong.....

the cashier was like ...i guess trying to downplay it ....maybe your snap wallet is demagnetizing you card....i just said that i will look into it and practically ran out the store!!!!

you got to be kidding me!! what an a**hole!

That was SO rude of that manager! You should've gotten his name and the number for corporate or something to complain about him.

OMG, that's unreal!!!

I stopped going to Waldbaums (at least the 2 by me) a while back because the customer service was always so bad. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience!!

I don't go to Waldbaums because I find them extremely expensive when compared to Stop & Shop, but that was very rude.

Call them anyway and give them the location of the store and the time you went in because they can easily pull records to see what manager was on duty.

I used to work in retail and am appalled at how manager treat not only employees, but customers and think they can get away with it!

Wow. That is unacceptable behavior. I would complain. Not to that store since he is the manager. I would get the contact information for the regional manager and let that person know the situation.

The manager is NOT ALLOWED to ban you from using your card as a credit card. Waldbaum's is bound by a merchant agreement through MC/Visa to accept any and all MC/Visa cards - if a card with a MC or Visa logo they MUST accept it. If the debit doesn't work or if you just plain PREFER to use it as a credit - they MUST accept it. To refuse is a violation of their merchant contract and subjects them to very large fines from MC/Visa. They pay MORE to accept the card as a credit card - which is why they discourage it.

The guy was a total a-shole. Call the corporate office and tell them that you are filing a complaint with MC/Visa for a violation of their merchant contract.

my last job was working at waldbaum's for six years ( yeah i know, lucky me)

we take any and all cards as credit and debit - they can't just make up their own rules

and definitely call 1-866-44-fresh (1-866-443-7374)

and complain .. . some of the managers are real losers

PS - if you keep having the same problem with your card - you can ruin teh magnet by putting it on top of an electronic like a VCR or a computer. . . it used to happen to me all the time!

the manager's name and store number will be on the receipt.

Edited bc they changed the stupid number

You can also ruin the magnet strip by putting cards next to one another in your wallet. I've done this before so I try to make sure the magnetic strips are not near eachother now.

i cant say anything about that bc i have made that mistake- and gotten cursed at for it!
