NWR: I am so Nervous

Our Co-op Board interview is tonight!!!! YaY!! I am so excited and nervous at the same time. What the heck do these people ask you???

I didn't have one--most of the time they just want to make sure you are normal people with jobs...

My board doesn't meet people anymore, only reviews the paperwork. According to someone on the board, they stopped doing interviews to be 'politically correct.' There were alot of people suing the management companies because they felt they were turned away for the wrong reasons.

mine was a few years ago so trying to remember what they asked lol. Well first i'll say that some co-op boards are alot more strict than others so will all depend on yours. THey want to see financials, how much you make, credit score and stuff like that. Although I think they were given this info ahead of time cant remember exactly when but they are interested in your financials. Other than that they just asked who else will live in the apartment. Then they went over their rules to make sure it was ok with me. Mine went quickly and fairly simple. Once they were ok with the financials they just wanted to know who would live in the apartment, and if I would be able to follow the rules.

All the co-ops should do away with the interveiw.. Hopefully it won't be too painful though.

Yeah they do have all the financials ahead of time on your co-op application, so they know what they are getting. I guess it is more of a thing to physically see the people that will be living there after being assured that they can afford it. It's just nerwracking. LOL

don't worry you'll be fine. The only time i've really heard of people getting denied by the board is bc of their financials thats all. I know somebody who had bad credit and was denied because of this. Haven't really heard of people getting denied bc of their personalities. I think if youre normal, you both have good jobs and the income they require and good credit history you should be fine. They will like that you are an engaged couple and will be a married couple. I went to look at one place this past weekend and the guy told me that he would prefer for me to take it bc most of the other couples are just bf and gf and he would prefer a married couple. You both look like nice and normal people lol so no reason for them to deny you really.

Yeah trust me its fine, i can understand why you are nervous though bc i was the same way. I was like 24 at the time and i thought they would just see me as this young party girl or something hahahahha. Well they did mention how you can't play loud music after 11pm to me but i am sure they have to mention that to everybody, or at least i hope haha. Other than that, they can't really ask too many personal questions ya know bc they can't deny you based on alot of personal things so i wouldn't worry because of that. When it comes down to it, they just want to know if you can pay the mortgage each month. They might ask how long you've been at your job and your Fh to see if youre both at stable jobs.

They went over those few things with me and the rest was them telling me that I cant rent out the apartment to anyone until after 2 years. Then they told me i needed to have a certain percentage of the apartment carpeted, then the whole music after 11pm thing, no pets and asking if this was a problem, yeah meanwhile a guy in my building has 2 dogs and lives here for MANY years and those dogs are old so they allow him lol.

Good luck, just go in there knowing that they should want you to live there

Got back from the interview like an hour ago and they ONLY asked like 4 questions LOL.. Me and FH were in and out in like 25 minutes.

We should know if we were accepted by WEdnesday, so fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!
