NWR- I am taking a poll
I just got a call today from Queens College telling me that I got into the Speech Pathology program there (I was wait-listed, but someone dropped out). I am all registered and ready to start CW Post on the 6th. Post was my first choice...and still is, but I am having some other issues that is making me unsure of what to tell Queens.
1) First and foremost I was not expecting to lose my job this summer. I just started working again this month. While I am at Post I can work pretty much all day up until February and then work part time at least until my externships. FH and I discussed me not possibly being able to work for the first year of our marriage while I am in school and he is okay with handling everything. Problem is that I have a balance due at Post after taking out the max amount of loans and I have a choice of taking out another loan that is high interest or trying to pay it off myself (the balance)...but the latter is a problem because I have depleted a lot of my savings because I was out of work. At Queens however, I would have to stop working in two weeks for 2 solid years. I have no one to help me for both years, just the one. However Queens is significantly cheaper, but yet I need money to live and the Queens program is so demanding it would be impossible to work...and then it would all be for nothing because I would not be able to go to school after they repossess my car.
2) I absolutely love, love, LOVE Post. I have spent two of the best years I have ever had in college there. I love the people, I love the faculty. It is an excellent program and the professors are so knowledgeable. One of my friends said it would be worth spending the extra money in tuition to ensure my happiness...but I am terrified about taking the extra loans and such. My attitude is that this is an investment in my future, but I am scared of having to stop my education because of unpaid tuition.
It comes down to the only reason there is even an issue w/ Post is the money. I remeber after I had come back from visiting Queens saying that I did not want to go. The parking is horrible and it is soooo far away. I am just unsure of myself right now. Months ago, I was certain about the decision I made. Last night I was freaking out about all these loans and the balances per semester and it was very odd...almost fate...that I got the calls from Queens the next day. Maybe I am looking too much into it. I am not asking you what I should do with my life, but rather, if you were in the same situation, what would you do?
