CURSE BUGS THAT MAKE US ITCH!!

Some alternative remedies that I found on my google search:
'When you get a big mosquito bite, take a bar of soap and rub it on your mosquito bite. Don't wet the soap, just rub it on dry. Wash off any excess soap before you go to bed. This takes the itch and redness away from the mosquito bite and makes it look smaller.'

'The best thing to use for Mosquito Bites is banana peels. Just rub the bite with the inside of the peel. The itch will stop immediately. I always keep them in the freezer, so they are always available. All the grandchildren are amazed at how quick this remedy works. When they do get a bite, they always come running and ask me for the banana peel from the freezer. They know I always keep them on hand. Why pay a high price for over-the-counter ointments and sprays for bug bites? You can have instant relief from a simple banana peel that ordinarily would have been thrown in the trash. Try this, it really works.'

.

I just ate a banana!!!! I will try anything right now!!! I am NOT itching them. I just keep putting little x's on them!!!

Why would you go for ice cream? Your obviously sweet enough or he would have bit you once and went away. I figured you got enough advice..laughter is the best medicine!

OMG they really do love me. If I know I'm going to be outside I stay away from the scented stuff..the hairsprays..blah blah blah. And I just don't understand how he got me...He really snuck in!!!

OMG- I feel your pain. We were doing some home improvements last weekend, and FH had the patio door open as he was going back and forth inside the house. I think a whole family of mosquitos got in because I have about 30 on my legs and arms. I've killed 3 of them in the house, but I know there's more lurking cause I keep getting bit. They itch so bad and the little X's aren't working. I hate these things!!!!

Not to get too disgusting but I get massive bites all summer long. I have two on my back of my leg now that I've scratched and scratched and now have become bigger. Also I scratched so hard I picked pea sized skin off of them and they are infected. I called my doc to see what I can do because I had put bandaids on them and they ended up being puss filled. The doc said to use neosporin and hydrocortizone cream. Also witch hazel which is a mix of peroxide and alcohol. Best of luck to you!

OUCH
A Dr. once told me to put rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and dab it on the bites to stop the itching. It worked for me and is a lot cheaper than most of the OTC itchie creams.
Feel better

Just a little info I thought I would pass on:

How can I avoid mosquito bites?
There are some ways to prevent mosquitoes from biting you

Wear Socks: 80% of all bites are on the ankle

Wear closed toed shoes for the same reason

Avoid Bannanas during the mosquito season: Bannanas produce a phermone that mosquitoes go ape over

Avoid sugary drinks because they also attract mosquitoes

Eat citrus. Despite being sweet, citrus does not attract mosquitoes and in fact repels them

Use essential oils' catnip and rosemary
Last year, several members of the Iowa State University Department of Entomology presented the results of a study on common catnip. Among their conclusions was the fact that an essential oil in catnip is 10 times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than potent chemicals such as DEET.

Eliminate standing water in your community or at least in your neighborhood:A couple of drops of Citronella Oil, Neem Oil, or Catnip will prevent eggs from hatching.

Recycle and dispose of old tires and other containers where mosquitoes breed

Shower with unscented shampoos and laundry detergent. Strong scents attract mosquitoes.

Avoid going out in the hour after dawn and the hour before dawn. Over 80% of bites occur when the temperature is perfect for breeding in those hour after sunrise and before sunset.

I have a wierd mosquito bites... how to get rid?
it's wierd, since last monday, for every night, i found a new mosquito bite on my leg, than on friday night, i found two. On saturday, i cleaned all my bedsheets, comferters, and pillowcases. I still find some new ones popping up everywhere.
I'm not 100% sure that it's a mosquito bite, but it's very similar. So far, Iv'e counted that i have 14 bites, maybe more, and there are probrably more coming

What I want to know:
1. What might be the cause?
2. Is there a way to stop it?
3. What is the best way to get rid of the bites?

it is possible that you have some other type of creature in your bed.
You need to have the mattress cleaned to be sure. Try sleeping with bug spray for a night or two. If that doesn't help, then it's possible you have some sort of flea or bedbug.

For itching bites, you can use a hydrocortozone cream. Like benadryl. THey say that calamine lotion works, but it's ugly and never works for me. Some use vinegar.. but that stings. Some use peroxide, and some use toothpaste. both of these things will 'dry out' the poison in the bite and work, but are not great for your skin.

Unfortunately though, mosquito bites are one of those things we all have to live with sometimes. Just try not to scratch them 'raw' that will leave scars. Yuck

aveeno makes a bath that helps to stop itching. Maybe you can make a little tub of it and soak your poor little foot!
UGH! What a pain!
