NWR: I have a affair to go to...

At Captain Bill's it's my cousin's daughters' 1st b-day party, what do I give as a gift? Any suggestions? We'd like to keep it in the $100 range...

I was thinking something that's 'child sized' so that she can wear it sometime soon. I got my neice a charm bracelet. I add charms to it every year for something. It's good also because more links can be added to the bracelet so she can wear it when she gets older.

Don't take this the wrong way, the idea of going to Tiffany and getting her something is really nice, I was just thinking along the lines of something that could be worn now.

For a 1 year old, I would definitely give a bond over cash. It is very exciting to be 10 and have the bond matured and be able to go out and buy something with it. I got my ears pierced with the bond I got (which is why I remember).

A few years ago, I got my friend's daughter a mirrored heart bracelet and had the jewelry store put hooks at different intervals of the bracelet so you can clasp it where it best fits as she gets bigger. Now she is 4 and she still wears it every day and still has one or two more clasps for when she gets bigger. You don't even notice them when looking. It is a 7 in bracelet that she can wear her whole life.

Just FYI, I went to cash in my daughter's bonds from 7 yrs ago and the bonds issued now do not mature for almost 18 years!!!

I bought my first car with all the bonds from when I was little/

I say bond too..she'll appreciate it when she is older.

i second the bond idea... they mature over time and get worth more... .i ended up using all of mine to pay down a lot of my student loans when i finished school...... she'll appreciate later

Write a check - She's only a year old.
Her parents will put it in her college fund.
I'd save the jewlery for when she's a little bit older and can understand and get excited about a gift .......
