Re: NWR: I must be crazy!

you are NUTS! But have fun. I found this info for ya!

Some veteran plunger tips.

Wear something on your feet. The sand is incredibly cold.
Find a good plunge buddy and stay with them the entire time.
Bring a sweat suit to throw on right away when you're done.
Make it a weekend and get a hotel room. Its fun to party at the plunge and that hot shower feels soooo good afterwards.

Wait until after you plunge to indulge in adult beverages!

1. EVERYONE MUST WEAR SHOES!!!!
2. Be prepared - Bring a change of clothing, towels and shoes.
3. Less is best! The less clothing worn in the water, the easier to remove after plunging.
It is very important to change into warm clothing after plunging.
4. Eat a light meal at least one hour before the event.
5. Be aware of the possibility, if you decide to completely submerge your body, you may
experience a loss of consciousness and / or light-headedness.
6. Absolutely no horseplay in the water!
7. NO DUNKING
8. Persons with medical problems should consult their doctor prior to participating in
strenuous exercise.
9. Medical personnel will be on the premises to administer first aid.
10. If you are injured or feel ill during the event, please tell the medical personnel who are
on the scene even if you do not seek treatment. Anyone with heart problems - please
just be a cheerleader.
11. Do not stay in the water longer than 15 minutes. Body heat is lost 25 times faster in
water than air.
12. Do not remove clothing until plunge time. Event will be started with a flag and horn.
13. Do not drink alcohol. It does not warm you up - it accelerates hypothermia!
14. Drink warm fluids after the plunge to raise your body temperature.
15. VASELINE!! A coat of Vaseline can help insulate your body.
