one of those collage boards.... I've always liked them! Or even a collage in a nice frame.

I have something that I do A LOT, but are you crafty? would you be into something that requires a little bit of work?

Re: NWR I need some ideas
I did something similar for my sister's birthday one year. I am the person in my family that takes pictures, so I had a TON of pictures of her and my niece. I went out and bought a bunch of beautiful frames for her house, and then put pictures of her and her daughter in them (she's a single mom). She loved it and there was ZERO work for her. All she had to do was hang them!

OK!!!
So, go go get the pictures.
NOW get a frame that has a nice wide matting. And go to the computer, and in all different fonts print up mother/son quotes, his name, his brithdate maybe, their last name...stuff like that. You could print out bible quotes, or pictures of music notes, anything that she is into and that you can associate iwth her son.
Without messing up any words, tear all the writing etc. into strips. Crumble it all up, and then flatten it out again. In a large baking pan, put warm water and a bunch of tea bags. Let that sit, and then put all the paper in there. I always make a few tears here and there and on some I place a tea bag right on top of the paper for some darker spots. So, after the paper is as dark as you would like it, take it out and let it all sit until it is ALMOST dry. Then take a foam brush and glossy finished modge podge and cover the WHOLE mat with it. Its also night to take some stensils and stensil dark black over it in like, swirls. And THAT can be the frame you put the biggest of the picture in.
I do stuff like this ALL the time...i just made something for a friend who just bought a house- the writing behind the 'home is where your story begins' is the chorus to their wedding song...

Re: NWR I need some ideas
thanks...I love doing it. Right now I am working on some name signs for other friends new houses...you know, last name behind, first names in front. Its a lot of fun for me, and its nice to give such personal gifts.
AND FOR GUYS- like, my brother-in-law- hes a HUGE superman fan, so i bought a comic, tore it up, and covered a pilsner glass with it all. It has a perm place in his dinning room...lol, he loves that thing!

Re: NWR I need some ideas
If anyone has any ideas of stuff they would want for themselves or to give as gifts, I would TOTALLY make them. I enjoy it that much...

these would be really nice to do after the wedding when you get photog proofs of bridemaids. I'm totally doing this for my girls, my mom and with my epics (when I eventually take them) thanks for sharing!
