NWR: If one more person calls me Ma'am

Ahhh!!!!!

Everywhere I go I get called Ma'am - I was always Miss, and ever since I got engaged I am 'Ma'am' - I am 26 years old - ***??????? Do I look that old?? Does this happen to anyone else?

I seem to get called ma'am the most by younger people. But I hate it!

I'm 25 and I've been getting it since college!! Then I'll go somewhere else and I hear how I look so young!!

It has just happened within the past year - so weird....it just makes me feel so OLD

i am 26 too, but i am five feet tall so no one ever thinks to call me ma'amm....

Why is it that up here in the north, women take such offense to being called ma'am? If you are in the south, women LOVE being called ma'am as it is a sign of respect. Look at it on the bright side... there are a lot of worse things we could be called!!!!

Happened to me yesterday in Bloomingdales, I corrected the salewomen and said, 'no I believe you are the maam'

I dislike the word 'ma'am' altogether!
I know is should should be taken as respectful and all, but i just hate the way it sounds

yes, welcome to my life - it doesn't just happen to me in Bloomingdales, it happens to me EVERYWHERE - like, I get excited if someone calls me MISS

It's the rock, and plus as you get into your mid 20s you truly look your best and peeps give you more respect, though I would give anything for a store to tell me they need to hold me bags in the front, like the old days.............

Hahahaha!! The kid at the Burger King called me ma'am tonight. FH was making fun of me!! The kid kept apologizing!

Me too! I'm just under 5' and I look young. People always think I'm in high school...I have been asked what grade I am in!!! Then I have to tell them I graduated HS and college and I'm almost done with graduate school! I LOVE being called ma'am, but probably because it's so rare and it makes me feel older!

I'm laughing b/c I make all of my son's friends call me by my first name. Calling me mrs. or ms. anything makes me feel OLD! (and I'm a little bit older than most of the posters on this thread!)
