nwr- I'm talking through my nose...
this is slightly embarrassing , but I'm hoping someone can help me.
I was born with hearing problems, I had tubes put in my ears when I was 6 then took them out/they fell out when I was 8 and 9. When I was 12 they wanted to put them in again but wanted to wait to see if my hearing/speech got worse, it had gotten better until I was 16, where I went back to talking like a 'deaf person' (I know that sounds mean, but I did talk like that) I didn't have them put back in, they brought it up again when I was 21.. still no. I had also had some sort of surgery when I was 4 and then again when I was having the tubes put in.
I went to speech therapy from grades K-5 and actually helped my sil's niece with her speech, she has the same problem I had as a child and wouldn't listen to the instructor.. but she listened to me.
I thought I was fine. I haven't had a problem in 4 years, and honestly when I was 21 the only reason I had a problem was because every once in a while my hearing goes bye bye, I'm used to it, it lasts about 5 minutes. I had mentioned it to the doctor and they suggested tubes/surgery.
So I remember when I was 16 (when it was bad) my mother said she knew it was getting bad because I started talking through my nose. I have caught myself loosing my speech (talking deaf) and now when I'm making collection calls to customers I FEEL myself speaking through my nose and its driving me insane!!!
I just had my hearing checked a few months ago and they said everything was perfect.
So are there any speech therapists out there (I think one bride on here is one) or anyone with similar experiences.
I'm just trying to see if there's anything I can do to correct this before it gets worse.
TIA!
