NWR: Insurance Rant

NWR: Insurance Rant

So, I contacted my Benefits Office to get the paperwork so I can add my FH to my Health Insurance after the wedding. I went on the website to check the rates for adding a spouse and I almost melted into a Danielle puddle. It would cost me $73 extra every 2 weeks to cover him! My insurance company doesn't have 'levels' of coverage after single. It's just single and family. It's not worth it for me to cover him now. Maybe if we have a child in the future I'll cover everyone, but, I can't justify that price hike.
Stupid NY State!

Don't feel bad. I'd be happy with that. Its gonna cost me about $600 a month.

My FH gets insurance through his job, mine is just better. I guess he's going to have to keep his. I just wasn't expecting it to be so much. I thought they would have had levels, not jump right from single to family. I thought that was strange.

Honestly--that's really not too bad. You should be thankful it isn't more!!

I know that DH and I are extremely lucky having wonderful benefits that we don't have to pay for really....just a couple bucks a month. BUT I know of PLENTY of people who wish they could only pay like $150 a month for benefits! Sometimes we forget how fortunate we are until we see someone else.

My dad's friend has to pay $900 a month for health insurance for his family, and anther friend of mine can't afford the $600 a month for her family so each time she goes to the Doctor--its costs $$$$$$ out of pocket.

Im paying $350 more a month to have DH on my insurance, mine is better then his.

If he has insurance then there really is no reason to add him to yours, it saves you money regardless to keep your insurance seperate with your employer.

The levels you are talking about do and dont exist, it varies depending on the company.
