Does anyone know of any type of wireless internet service for laptops w/o having to get a cable modem or DSL modem????
What 'wireless internet' is, is actually taking the internet service you already have, and broadcasting it, through a router, to your computer. So if you didn't have DSL or Cable internet, there would be nothing to broadcast. You have to pay for the internet (I know, $60 a month or so - it's expensive!), and for the router (a one-time $25 or so cost - they're all like $50 with a $25 instant rebate for some reason). A new laptop will most likely come with the wireless card pre-installed.
