NWR-Interview thank you note..handwritten or not?

I have read so many conflicting things! I'm a librarian so it's definitely a professional position but not in a business or law firm or anything..what do you think?

i voted for hand written, i think it shows you took the time.

I agree, hand written... it's more personal.

I'm not familiar with libraries but in general, I think email is better. The interviewer can receive the thank you instantly vs. losing time to get mailed. I always email a thank you 24 hours within the interview. I think it makes a good impression. Usually the people hiring you will know if they want to hire you relatively soon after you interview. It's better to make that last impression sooner than later.

I'm not in your profession, but I would only ever send a typewritten thank you note for a professional position...

I'm sure other people do it differently, though!

I would email the thank you , that way the person gets it the day of your interview.

Either way it makes an impact. As a hiring manager, I tend to be more impressed if the spelling is correct than the manner in which it is delivered.

I recently recieved a 'thank you' with the worst handwriting ever. She spelled words incorrectly and it immediately eliminated her from the running for me.

I would do a handwritten one, but it's a good point that email is faster. I think as a Librarian, you should definitely do a hand written one. I don't why but I feel that that's how it should be done in your profession.

Ok, another question..it was panel interview. Do I address it to all three people? I don't know one of their names! It's been a while since I had an interview

You should send each one an individual thank you, IMHO.

I also agree with the above - the thank you letter should be flawless - no spelling or grammatical errors. Don't handwrite it unless your handwriting is excellent.

You should definitely do a separate thank you for each person who interviewed you.

yes, I agree!
And since you're saying it was a panel interview, I think the letters should be typed. A panel interview is usually a part of a very formal process.

If you have an email address for them, send one now AND the note.

I always prefer hand written notes after an interview. It makes it a little more personal.

Also, send a note to each individual person instead of just one with each name listed.

thanks all..still the conflicting opinions , oy
I don't have email addresses for them so I decided to type the letters so I can get them out today and most importantly they will be legible..thanks!

ok, wait another stupid question (I have an unlimited supply! )...do I write that I am looking forward to hearing from them on ALL the letters? Is it ok if I send them all the same letter, but individually, or do they need to all be different?

thanks again!!!

I would do a different letter for each person that interviewed me and I would mention something specific that went on in the interview. I would conclude each letter by writing ' I look forward to hearing from you soon'
