Should I call? Or should I go to an H&R block to do it for me or something???

Good Luck!

Um...H&R Block might end up costing you more money than just calling them direct. You might be able to to work out a long term payment plan if you 'sweet' talk someone.

Not to mention I would trust a CPA before H&R Block with something so serious.

If you're interested, I love my guy - I could FM you the details.

Lot's of luck!

It is better to talk to IRS directly. They send you the form or I think you can download on their website if you want to make a payment arrangement. It takes about 60 days for them to respond after you send the form.

I see # was already posted. Call them !! I know it can be intimidating but I had to do the same thing and once I did what a weight off of my shoulders !!! They were halpful and courteous. Happy to be getting their money and worked out an easy payment plan for me.

i would just call them. in the big picture they just want their money. you may have to pay some sort of larger 1st payment but they will probably spread the rest of the payments over 3-6 months if they are anything like nys and i'm not sure, anything arrangements over 3 months need to be approved.

If you owe them money you are better off calling them. You should be able to work out a payment plan with them, and if I remember correctly, the interest and/or penalties stop incurring. You may already realize this, but the interest and penalties alone can make what you owe them soo much higher. It will feel like a weight lifted just to be able to do that. It makes it so much harder to pay it off with the added charges. Good luck!

ETA: If anyone on here is a CPA, they could probably tell you better.

You could even just call to chat and get ideas of what to expect. If you know what you have ahead of you, you can be prepared and not be as nervous.
