NWR: Is anyone taking Loestrin 24?

NWR: Is anyone taking Loestrin 24?

My doctor just switched me this morning to this...Anyone taking it? Anything I should watch out for? I haven't changed my BCP in like 2+ years, so I'm afraid of 1) weight gain, 2) crazy mood swings

I was on it for years. No crazy mood swings here and I never gained weight. HTH!!

ETA: I did shorten AF.

Thanks girls that's good to know.

My gyno mentioned that some people that are on it end up having realllllly light cycles, and sometimes they're not even existant. Have you experienced that?

i got switched to it about 3 months ago - i was on my previous bcp for at least 5 years. i had no changes with the new pill except that my cycle is SO light...it lasts two days and its so minimal. i love it!
the downside...you miss one pill and you have breakthrough bleeding (or whatever they call ot) but again its minimal. Oh and its more expensive than my past bcp

So happy to hear this. They gave me a discount card that I can use at the pharmacy so hopefully that helps w/ cost.

I was taking this for about 2 years and didn't have any real complaints. It did affect my cycle, I went from having a 7-8 day period to practically none at all.
I switched to Beyaz not too long ago and I think I am going to switch back.

meeeee! i've been on it for about 4 years now and it is the best. no symptons whatsoeverrr and it's super light!

I was on it as well. No side effects but lots of spotting...but then again any BC I take does that.

Crashing....

I've been on it for about 2 yrs and I love it! I didnt gain weight, I actually lost weight while on it... and no crazy mood swings.

All of this! my friend and i were both on it at around the same time (we go to same obgyn - so he must have been on a prescription kick) and we BOTH became insane. lunatic was the perfect world - the mood swings were out of control.

For me it was lots of spotting and headaches the first two months. I'm now on my 3rd month and i don't have those symptoms at all. My GYN said that side effects will usually last 3months until your body gets used to the new pill.

And don't miss a pill or you can get breakthrough bleeding.

I've been on it for about two years, for the first month I felt like I was ready to jump out of my skin at a moment's notice but I think that was my body adjusting to it. I did experience spotting in between periods for the first couple of months I was on it, but that doesn't happen any more. Also my monthly periods are nearly non-existent now which is AMAZING.

Me too! It made me insane..I became paranoid of everything in my life I thought I was going crazy..Took me a while to figure out it was the birth control.

Same here. After about 6 months on it, I called my OB/GYN one day and said I was coming by now for an emergency appointment to get off of it because everytime someone pissed me off, I wanted to punch them in the face, and laugh about it. Thats when I knew I was nuts.
