NWR: Is it me...

NWR: Is it me...

Or is this rude?

I'm eating my lunch at my desk - fork in hand...salad in mouth and one of my managers comes over and starts talking work, plops stuff down on my desk and doesn't even acknowledge that I'm eating and then stays at my desk for 10 minutes talking about a client we're working on.

Then I complain to a co-worker and he tells me I'm being too sensitive! UGH!!!!!!!!

I don't like when people watch me eat and I'm in my zone that would erk me

I have that sometimes too. I just sit there and give dirty looks. LOL.

It is rude, but as someone who eats at my desk all the time, I can tell you, it happens all the time because you're not indicating that your not working by sitting at your desk. I eat there because I work and eat at the same time, but if you want to send the message that this is 'my time' either shut the door, if you have it (letting people know you'll be eating) or eat elsewhere. It's a pain, because I like to eat at my desk and surf the web, or whatever, but the signal sent is 'I'm still at work.'

I hear ya! Sometimes I cannot leave my desk to go eat bc I need to finish something and I HATE when your in the middle of something while eating and you get interrupted.

I never bother someone while their eating unless its urgent.

I agree - I always say I'll come back if I see someone eating. What annoys me the most is she didn't even acknowledge that I was eating!!

my old boss used to do that all the time, it became a habit with her, so I started eating lunch out of the office to avoid being bothered.

That is definitely rude, lunch time is your time, he can wait until your finished to speak with you.

I think it's really inconsiderate when they know your out to lunch but ignore it. Sometimes you don't feel like moving from your workstation to take lunch.

ummmmmmmm it's definitely not just you. Our boss does that here too. He hasno regard for anyone else and I agree that it is super rude and annoying! You know what we do? Whatever time he took from our lunch hour we tack on to the end of it. So we end up getting our full hour. He eventually gets the hint!
