NWR - just funny

One of my guilty pleasures when my FH is out for the day is to watch those cheesy wedding 'reality' shows. Right now I'm watch Four Weddings - Biggest Blunders, and they just shows 3 girls who went to a wedding that had no food so they actually called a near by restaurant and had they deliver food to the wedding hall!!

Made me think, has anyone been to a wedding where there was something this bad or just something negative that sticks out?

Ohhh I have one...we went to a wedding where when they came around to take our order they said 'we're having steak that's good with you right?' I literally fell off my chair and then said 'No, it's not'

PS I'm such a sucker for all of those wedding reality shows

Both your stories are great. I think a lot of time its out of state weddings that are a little funky. I went to a wedding in pa once in a basement of a rec center and the food was served in gigantic bowls passed around, and I was like EW who didnt wash their hands/sneeze into the bowl.

ITA about the out of NY comment, we've had to go to some weddings away and each time something weird

As I'm recovering from my cold and doing lots of online wedding research, I have totally gotten into the 4 weddings marathon that is on right now. These brides just make me laugh!!

My best friend from hs spent about that much on her wedding in Syracuse and I have to say, it was beautiful. It was about 80 people in a rustic ski lodge in March, she got the church for free because she used to work there in the day care center, she had a friend do the music, paid another friend a nominal amount for photo and the catering was buffet style.. she got a small cake for the cutting ceremony and served the guests sheet cake from WEgman's, spent $100 at DB on her gown... and everything came together! And it was totally reflective of her personality.

i still cant believe she did it, but you saw all the stuff she cut out so i guess it adds up. btwn the gas, alcohol, having the quick ceremony in the park.

wasnt MY dream wedding but she seemed happy

At this point I wish my wedding was about $5000

I will tell you as crazy as we think some of those weddings are in other areas, they think we're crazy too.

I was telling my FMIL about NY weddings (they're in Idaho) and she was basically saying how nuts and crazy it is to 'waste' money on flowers and food for everyone. lol

it's totally cultural based on where you live I guess. lol

even if you dont have the flowers and limo's its still alot of money. my aunt doesnt understand it either, however i still look back at her 2 sons weddings and say 'i would never do that!' so i guess to each their own. no shocker that weddings in ny are more money, everything in ny is more lol

i just went to the WORST wedding last weekend.

The bride's parents are millionaires (her father is the main attorney for the yankees)

she had a BLACK TIE reception that began at 7pm, and decided it wasn't necessary to provide her guests with dinner or even enough seats!!

I understand that some people do a cocktail and appatizer wedding, if that's all their budget can allow... but don't do it at dinner time, and warn your guests on the initation. and don't call it a black tie wedding!! If you're not feeding me, I don't need to buy a gown.

I was so hungry and cranky, and everyone missed all the important things like introducion of the brid and groom, first dance, and speaches because they were too busy chasing down the waiters with the apps!!
