NWR: just got highlights and my shirt is ruined!!!
I just got my final haircut and highlights for the wedding. After the shampoo girl washed my hair, I felt some wetness on my back (I had a robe on). Didn't really think anything of it.
Well, stupid me, but I happened to have my FAVORITE Teal French Connection shirt on. I love love love this shirt!! I just got it and it was $100 - well, I get home and the entire back of my shirt is yellow - stained from the chemicals that must have spilled down my back.
What do I do?? Can I literally take this top back to them and show them the stain and demand they pay for it? The shirt is ruined!
Help

Honestly, There is an assumption of risk when you use dye on your hair. (Actually highlights are supposed to strip color - not add). I have been coloring and/or highlighting my hair for about 20 years and I never wore my good clothing when I had it done. More often than not, the salon would actually as me to remove my shirt and put on a robe even if it were a crappy t-shirt. I dont know how far youd get by lodging a complaint.

Oh that stinks! Would you feel weird about going into the salon and talking to them about it?

That stinks. I am surprised they didnt have you take off your tshirt. When i had mine done a few months ago, I had on a crappy old navy tshirt and they made me take it off b/c they didnt want the responsibility if it got discolored, but hey, you never know, talk to the salon and see what happens...

oh that s*cks, and a frech connection shirt too .
try going to the salon and see what they say. i would say try going back to FC and say you washed it (or whatever the instructions say) and that is what happened- but that is dishonest.
i did something like that last week at the gap, but the shirt got a hole in it, and i felt bad returning it. i really thought that they thought i ripped it, but i didnt. it made me think how many people probably go back and do stuff like that.

o no!!!! it's worth a try, but they may argue like goldi said that by getting your hair dyed, you should've known not to wear a nice shirt. i'm sorry, that stinks! i know how it feels to ruin a very favorite piece of clothing!

I guess its worth a try, but I don't think they you will get too far, I know whenever I get my hair dyed they have a sign posting they are not responisble if clothes get ruined. Where did you go? You should never wear good clothes when you are getting your hair dyed... but I guess you learned that the hard way. Sorry, that stinks.

I'm sorry to hear....did you decide to go back to the salon. I know at mine they provide robes and suggest you take your shirt off.

I kind of agree....when i went last time i had on a yellow t-shirt (that was my bummy shirt that i could care less about) and the girl looked at me and said 'you're going to change to a different shirt right?' i said no, this was just an old one (and it was, but i have so many t-shirts, it doesn't look old). they try to protect you as much as possible, but a lot of it is risk.

Actually, that is why my salon always asks me to put on their robe...they really aren't responsible for damage like that. It totally stinks...it happened to me recently actually and I cut her tip in half for getting color all over me...but it was still kinda my fault!
