So tonight is my last night shift in the ER for this block, and Tuesday I switch over to my toxicology rotation...SO EXCITED!! I am finishing up a CRAZY stretch of 6 night shifts in a row....12 hours to a shift, and i'm SO DRAINED!
Two nights ago we had 5 trauma codes in a ROW! Crazy guy went insane in a store and used a machete to terrorize poor shoppers (no idea how its not on the news). 3 partial amputations all rushed into the ER at once. It was insanity! But...i must say, made me truely feel like a doctor! Thats the reason I went into emergency medicine!
Plus, and hour before that.....I DELIEVERED A BABY!!!! Poor woman was crowning in a cab!!! Thank god we rushed her over to labor and delivery...but in 2 seconds I had a baby in my hands! I nearly cried!
Just needed to share! I might ***** and moan about my jobs horrible hours and horrible drug seaking bull shi+ patients...but then you have those nights where you really feel like a doctor and realize its all worth it!

From what I heard from the grapevine (NYPD and EMT gossip), the guy with the machete was caught...but can't even be charged because of some mental handicap...either he's retarded or psych or so crap. I don't know much details because I can't find any info online. As for the victims...2 were transfered to another hospital to try to re-attach their fingers/hands, and the third needed an amputation of her hand in the OR.....Insane.
