i was surprisingly touched by it! so depressing to think that 2 people that loved each other soooo much couldn't be together. such a shame...FH refused to watch it with me because it made him 'uncomfortable' but I liked it. i think it definitely gave 'Crash' a run for its money as movie of the year.

Re: NWR - Just watched Brokeback Mountain and...
I saw Brokeback Mountain in the movies and thought it was great..then I saw Crash at home a few weeks ago and could totally see why that movie won the Oscar. It was much better IMO.

I saw both films. Brokeback was revolutionary - it was untouched material and groundbreaking. I am glad I saw it. Did I think it was remotely entertaining? Not really. I thought the movie could have been more appealing. It was painfully slow at some point. Yes, their relationship was very touching and felt horrible for the conditions that they had to live through. Its saddening to realize thats how the world works and its horrifying to realize that it still does work that way. We have a lot more tolerance today but their are so many gay people who are living lies today. Many of them still get married, have a family, and 'come out' after it becomes to painful and almost impossible to live the lie anymore. Ok - I know I went off on a tangent hehe
As for CRASH - I was happy to see that it won. I think it was well deserved. Both movies are worth seeing!!

brokeback and crash are 2 of the greatest movies that i have ever seen. yes brokeback was slow at points and a little graphic....the first time they did the deed was very, um, abrubt, for lack of a better word.
crash was incredibly moving and totally deserved to win best picture - i sobbed when the little girl ran to protect her father - i get goose bumps right now typing that
