FH and I have decided that we neeeed to get our own place, we just need privacy and our own space.
since we cant afford a mortgage AND saving for the wedding, we have compromised and decided to look for a 1 year lease on an apartment ... will look to purchase around the wedding, maybe just after.
does anyone know anyone who is looking to rent, family own apartments? live in a building where there are apartments open for rent?
we are looking for a 1-2 bedroom - reasonably priced! Close to subway if possible

i'll let you know if i hear anything...my friend saw a bunch of apts she saw on craiglist, most were in howard beach, glendale and bayside...i saw you already said you're looking at craigslist, so good luck

kew gardens, forest hills, bayside...
just a safe area that is at least somewhat convenient to the city for FH for work

OH I Live in kew gardens, ill see if i see anything...if you want to use a real estate agent i know one on metropolitan ave in kew gardens.
Its good bc in kew gardens and forest hills theres a LIRR station, and from me it takes 17 mins to penn station

my sister is in kew gardens now also ... she lives on union tpke loves it! We were thinking about seeing if there was an opening there but its busy on Union and would prefer something a little less conjested.
what does rent run in your building ... if you dont mind me being nosey
im sort of worried about wedding saving and also rent BUT i know we can make it work!

it doesn't hurt to look around at buildings and if they have a doorman, ask them if there are any apts. for rent....sometimes people posts signs in their lobby too...i did that for a friend of mine in forest hills and she got a great studio renting from the owner in a coop building and has been living there for 2 years!!
