NWR: Leak in apt

OK... WE LIVE IN WOODMERE... THEY ARE DEADBEAT LANDLORDS ABOUT TO HAVE A LAWSUIT OR SOMETHING HEADING THEIR WAY.

Anytime it rains we get a leak, this started last winter, right after we first moved in with the first snow of the season. The super initially thought that it was from the dog upstairs, very obviously NOT. We have called each & every time this has happened, as well as including it in our letters to the gatsby company that we also sent to the Nassau county housing comission, and NOTHING has been done!!!! Last time was over a month ago when I was home sick from work, I called at least 3 times that day and the receptionist promised me that someone was going out and it would be fixed (obviously NOT the first time FH and I had heard that). Well, here we are, with 2 inches of rain in various buckets, paint peeling off our walls from the rain dripping down the wall, pictures ruined, mold beginning to grow, and again NOTHING. My mother is speaking with her lawyer tomorrow to get some information for us.

In the past 10 months since we moved in the following has happened:
- Late oil delivery (Nov 2009)
- Leaky ceiling (Dec 2009 - Present), pictures can be provided.
- Broken oven (Nov 2009)
- Faulty electrical outlets (Nov 2009 – Present)
- Running toilet in the bathroom. (Nov 2009 – Present)
- Lack of cold water pressure in kitchen sink (Nov 2009 – Present)
- Fruit flies and lady bugs infestation (Nov 2009 – Present)
- Front door lock problems (Feb 2010 – Apr 2010)
- Expired elevator inspection, every 6 months (Last inspected on Aug 2009)
- No hot water (May 2010)
- No water at all in July 2010

Oh My Gosh. So sorry you are going through this. Do you have enough against them to break your lease? Or withhold rent until they fix the problem?

We have pictures from every time it's leaked along with the dates on it, and we videoed about 30+ minutes of it tonight. We've written multiple letters to both the management company as well as the Nassau County Department of Housing and Governmental affairs. We will be writing another one as well as contacting a lawyer to see what can be done.
